Spurrier used to kill teams with his Fun'N'Gun. The passing threat was so dangerous, and then they would run the ball on that inside hand off. I used to hate the way they ran that, but it was so effective at the time. Even the ole ball coach ran the ball successfully. Fred Taylor, anyone?

You gotta be able to run the ball in the SEC. I'm not saying you can't be pass first, but you do have to be balanced.

Yeah when Spurrier had a good running back like Rhett or Taylor his offense was almost unstoppable.

As I said in my post, throwing more would not guarantee us winning that game. Look at those bad calls, most or all of them came on passing plays. Can you blame Miles for wanting to take the game out of the refs hands?

Also as I mentioned, according to Miles, we were very close to being able to run relatively successfully. We were dealing with youth & inexperience (on the line & at TE), I don't blame the coaches for sticking with it some to see if they could get the hang of it as the game wore on. Now, I think we stuck with it too long, but none the less we were 3 yards from winning that game.

Crowton will not run just for the sake of being "balanced". He will do whatever is working and do it over and over and over until the defense stops it. If the pass is working well you might not see a hand off for 10-12 plays. He is a very creative and outside the box coach. There will be times you see a bit of Spurrier in him. If thinks he can pass on a defense watch out brother. He'll light that field up with the pass like the fourth of July.
