shula and Croom didn't play the game. The State team beat Alabama fair and square. And Bama imploded. Before that game, we heard nothiung but praise about Shula. I know, Terry maintains that "insiders" were aware that Shula was the one and only problem that Bama had, but you couldn't tell it at the time from talking to Bama fans.
You know, as well as anyone who talks about programs behind the scenes, that information about the program that isn't "good news" isn't shared anymore on the Internet. You know why as well. You'll have every Tom, Dick and Harry telling you how wrong you are. To get to the point, things going on within programs aren't posted on the Internet anymore because of that reason, plus a few others. You're damn straight Shula was a problem...as were several of the staff. In fact, with a few fingers cut off, I could count the number of coaches on that staff that were worth their salt. What strikes me as odd here is no matter how many times in the past the problem areas were pointed to here, on this very forum, now that the Shula era has past all those little notes here and there have simply been forgotten. On the ironic side of things... It was Dinardo that was the problem on the LSU side before Saban got there, but not the players...b/c, Saban won with his recruits. YET, the same can't be said for another team? There are so many case examples of fans talking without a clue on different forums, besides Bama forums, and including this one about LSU, but, their word is to be taken as informed and representitive? "Shula and Croom didn't play the game..." Who called the plays? Who was responsible for what the team was doing on the field? The blame, goes right at the feet of the staff.
CLM has been winning on Saban's talent alone according to most of the universe. Could you please let them know that some success actually comes from the head coach.
I've never claimed we didn't have some obstinate fans. I do think we can agree this is a defining season for LM, no? In another thread someone here used Saban's record at MSU as an example he wasn't that great of a coach. It's that reasoning, on Miles and OSU, that you see a lot of people doubting LM's abilities. I still have my reservations, but again, this season will be the defining moment on where he would rank in my list of top SEC coaches...as if my list means a darn thing. :hihi:
