    Class according to Bear Bryant:

    class (n).

    1) stealing recruits from other schools
    2) signing people up under swimming scholarships to play football
    3) taking incoming freshmen out of their dorm rooms and enrolling them in other universities

    Yep...spend M-Thurs here and the weekends in T-town...unless I'm not working. My mother retired here in '88 and her health requires me to stay here in town a lot.

    I noticed you lived here a while ago.

    You certainly know what a butt whiping is don't you? It's happen to MSU enough. Even Troy State has handled that for you. I think that Coach Croom is a good coach, but if he only thinks that he can beat a team by talking about them in the press, and encouraging players to play dirty(look at the number of personal fouls Saturday) then he has a long road ahead of him.
    A lot of Bama fans wanted Coach Croom for our coach, but now with the way that he is talking out of school. I am seriously glad that decision was not made. If stays at MSU. I have no doubt that he will beat Bama one day, but do it the right way. On the field, and not in the press. This only makes him look bad.

    LOL. OK, I've heard it all before except for #3. I have to ask.

    1) Stealing recruits? So, a player that chose to play at Alabama instead of another school because he was offered the opportunity to...is stolen? Uh, wasn't it the players decision in the first place where he went to school?

    2) So? It wasn't against the rules of the NCAA at that time. I'm sure I'll hear the "cheating" comment...but you can't rule something cheating "post defacto." Now, Alabama wasn't the only school doing it and that isn't an excuse. It was a way around the scholly reductions the NCAA was imposing and within their said guidelines. Again, wasn't it the players choice where he went to school? (see addendum at the end)

    3) This one, is just out there. When Coach Bryant was at Alabama all the players stayed in one dorm specifically for the athletes at the school. It was the same everywhere. I don't know where you got that from...but it is so absurd it's funny.

    ** There are several instances in Bryant's tenure where he did things that were innovative. For instance, it was a common practice for position players to wear the same set of numbers (IE: OL 50-70 and so on.) Bryant, lined players up at a TE position but they had 50-70 numbers and thus confused the defense when we used them as receivers. The NCAA soon made a rule that certain position had to have certain numbers.

    Bryant once made his receivers wear white helmets when the other team members wore Crimson so the QB's would be able to pick receivers out easier. Soon the NCAA made a rule about that also.

    You can call all of this what you want...but you have to admit, it was progressive thinking.

    I've only one thing to add. The bottom item in my opinion is not the classy thing to do. It's kind of like defining what the word "is" is. Just because something is not illegal to do doesn't make it right.

    Oh yes, I almost forgot. Bama, Bama, Bama won’t you bite my @#@.

    I may be wrong, but I think it is still legal for elligible receivers to have a different color helmet. A lot of teams did it, way back when the forward pass was new.

    But nobody does it now that I'm aware of. Still I don't remember a rule change.
