Could the SEC support Big 10 sized stadiums?

I enjoyed my experience at The Shoe. It was very loud and I thought the stadium was pretty nice. Michigan was horrible for many reasons but they seem to be addressing many of them. Getting out of that stadium too forever because of most of the seats having to use a few portals. Happy Valley was a pretty nice stadium and very loud too.

That is true, but to catch the SEC in attendance, you would need the 12th stadium to AVG 102,541 per game for 11 games. Which would be tough considering the Big Ten only avgs 69,000 per game.

yep...and Notre Dame could not help there as the stadium is under 100K

Edit: I see you corrected it.

Not real sure how you got your numbers, but last year (www.ncaa.org) under football/attendence dated 7/10/06:

The Big Ten drew 4,997,067 with 11 teams
The SEC drew 5,593,645 with 12 teams and three more home games.

Are you saying we'd have to have another "Michigan" and that they would have to play 11 home games at 102,541 to match the SEC?

I would doubt that math... respectfully.

I used the link from earliear in this thread. (attendance figures from '04)
    SEC 77 games 5,719,678 att.
    Big 10 66 games 4,591,722 att.
    Difference = 11 games 1,127,956 att.
    1,127,956/11=102,541.4545454545454545..........
P.S. Where did you find the attendance figures for '05? I looked on NCAA.org, and the record book only has '04 attendance figures.

I dream of the day that somebody puts seats directly over the field, like a rollercoaster ride.

If you look on the last page of the link (above), the NCAA lists all neutral site games, including conference championship games and bowl games. Then, for whatever reason, they award the attendance for those games to the team who is designated the "home team".
This logic allows the NCAA to come up with a total attendance for all Div. I games, but skews an individual team's attendance, depending on the year.
This is the only explanation I have for why the SEC/Big Ten numbers for 2005 versus 2004 are significantly different.

side bar: Amazing that Mississippi State can outdraw Miami in attendance.

side bar II: Just saw where Monica Lewinsky celebrated her 31st Birthday... seems like just yesterday that she was crawling around the White House on her hands and knees. Gosh, these kids grow up fast!!
