He played some WR in the sping game and looked good. He began his career at LSU as a WR.

Yes, I see. It's easy to understand a guy with his talent being capable of going both ways - many of these kids are accustomed to doing just that in HS. But it's rare that we see an "Iron Man" in the SEC. The two radio personalities made it sound as if C-Web would be playing both ways full time or near-full time. Doesn't sound like that's the case.

If he did,and given his talent at CB, it would make a compelling case for Heisman candidacy IMO. Didn't Rod Woodson consider doing that his final year? AU had a Fullback/Noseguard named Brandon Johnson who played both ways during a short duration of time in '02, but a FB/NG rarely gets a mention towards a Heisman consideration, even if they were talented.

It will take a pure miracle for the media to rip their lips from the USC Heisman Hopeful's asses long enough.

I said it before and I still believe it to be true - I think Webster has practiced at WR simply to ensure depth, to give the staff some breathing room before the freshman report and to force the first few opponents to spend some time worrying about it. Just my opinion...

At this point, we have one proven receiver, Skyler Green. And even with that, he is the slot receiver. So we actually have nobody proven at the flanker/WR positions.

I believe that Bowe will have his breakout season this year. So I have him as solidly locking up one flanker/WR spot. The question from there is who locks up the 2nd flanker/WR spot, as well as the next 3 backup positions. That leaves Hill, Buster Davis, Addai, Doucet and Carter will vie for PT. If Amp Hill is healthy and productive and either of the super freshman shine, then there will be no need for Webster's talents at WR. But those are big IFs.

I think it makes sense that Webster gets in those first 3 games and gain some experience playing wideout. It's a backup policy worth exploring.

Charles Woodson didnt play a lot at WR.. but he played enough to get the 2 way label.. if Webster can get that, LSU should push his campaign.. as for Lienass.. He will throw double the number of picks this year because he will spend the season on his ass behind that line...

Woodson was used pretty much at WR his last season and was a decoy for much of the time as he would draw the best CB on the D, opening up the possibilites for the other receivers. Webster also had a long TD catch and run in the spring game and from what I've heard he looked very good on defense but Saban branded him a traitor  for letting the offense know what coverages the D was in.

I think if the frosh have trouble picking up the offense we will see CW at WR more than a lot of folks think we will. If they learn the routes and blocking than he doesn't play much at all if any. They are too talented to keep on the bench if they learn quickly enough.

Didn't Hawkins qualify ? Does anyone know his status ? If he is in school this fall, he should also be considered as having a shot.

Hawkins evidentally worked very hard to become eligible this year and if he shows that kind of determination on the field he will be a terrific Tigah. I cannot wait to see him after everything I have heard.

    Caddy-

Webster at WR is just for insurance. He started out at WR. He has great hands. As you know we have some incredible talent coming but the ? remains as to how quickly they will pick up the offense. If they pick it up quick then we're OK. If they don't having Webster familiar with the offense will give them time to catch up.

I really think Webster is too valuable at CB to risk injury at WR unless the situation really calls for it.
