I don't think you understand the Church's position. The Church views contraception as being intrinsically evil. They do not want to contribute to that evil by paying for contraception.

And to the bigger point, why would someone who "needs" contraception choose to work somewhere that doesn't offer contraception in the health plan.

Why can't that same organization just offer the same insurance coverage that everyone else has and leave the moral decisions to the individuals? No one is holding women down and force feeding them BC pills. Like I said before, shouldn't these people who work for the church want to abstain from birth control pills all on their own?

    Freedom of religion....

In the churches view, offering it is accepting it...

    It's not complicated..

the church has a not so stellar record for calling things evil that turn out to be pretty harmless so I cannot say that your argument gains a lot of traction with me. that said, I expect that eventually some arrangement will be made so that church's are excluded from paying for contraceptives.

I agree with you that it is hard to imagine someone who wants birth control to be working at a church in the first place. It does, however, strike me as cruel and unusual punishment if a Nun has endometriosis and has to suffer through the extreme pain when there is a pill that she could take daily that would relieve her from that. Are those pills still "evil" in this situation?

I will be glad when we, as a society, can make rational decisions without the filter of religious dogmas.

In the case of a nun it wouldn't be contraceptive would it? So it wouldn't be evil. Then again someone with endometriosis may opt for the surgical route, or may use non-contraceptive hormone therapies.

More like if you're not smart enough to realize YOU said you take BC pills to regulate your period.

Oh, and it's "you're" and "than". That's not a spelling error either, it's a grammatical one, billygoat.

See, this is where the problem is. Every conservative's answer about everything is, you are free to do this. You are free do that. Bullsh!t. Let's eliminate that word free, because NOTHING is free. You guys talk about jobs, like you can just jump from job to job until you find the right one, like it's a speed dating service. No you can't. You talk about getting qualified for other jobs, well, that's going to cost you big time. So much so in fact that you will be a slave to loans for the rest of your life. It all boils down to this. If you are born into a family with wealth, your chances of success are astronomically higher, because you have to pay to play. Sure there are examples of people coming up from nothing, but they are few and far between, and the longer we go down this road where the pursuit of profit trumps EVERYTHING. This country is ****ed. There are more important things than money, but if you are indoctrinated into the American Dream, NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MONEY. That is engrained in our heads from the time we can understand the English language.

This contraception thing doesn't even hit the issue that needs to be hit.

Big Pharmaceutical Companies. Why do they charge so damn much for their prescriptions? Why not do something to make all prescriptions affordable to everyone, without insurance? This is the problem. Lobbyists and politicians working to together to maximize profit at the cost of the American people.

Some might say I'm a dreamer.....but I'm not the only one...
