Here is where I disagree with you all. It isn't the plays called or offensive philosophy. Look at Harbaugh and many other successful coaches. A basic pound the line offense can work if run crisply and and fiercely.
It is the sloppiness and constant mistakes across the board that is a killer.
For several years it seems Les and the coaching staff have established a lassie fare get along environment.
It's not how fancy is your offense or defense it's how mistake free and crisis they are. If Les demanded quality play his offense would be just fine...defense too.

So offensive philosophy and playcalling have nothing to do with the success of a offense?

I asked this question back in January of 2013:

But I was shot down... mostly by a poster who is no longer here. I don't watch the NFL so I was not familiar with Cameron but he didn't exactly sound like an upgrade to me at the time.

Yes, pound the ball with Fournette but show a little diversity and innovation in the way you pound the ball. Every run is a handoff and off tackle either left or right.

As others have said, I'd love to see a few plays with #5 and #7 in the game at the same time. I'd also like to see Williams and Guise spell Fournette a little more. They were getting more carries per game earlier in the year, but those have tapered off.

    It's not that simple.

Chavis has made Texas A&M respectable on defense, with far less talent than LSU has. Steele was a bad hire. Not sure why we couldn't attract a better candidate, but for whatever reason we couldn't.

I admit, I really don't. Other than looking at the rankings at the end and seeing that LSU is usually in the top 5. If I am wrong about the talent level, that's fine, but I would also point out that those great Texas A&M recruits are still very young. Chavis has done an outstanding job making their defense somewhat relevant, after it's been a laughingstock for several seasons now. Chavis is good and will get the job done as he did here.

However, what I am not wrong about is that Steele was a bad hire. I don't care what number you throw up, this is not an LSU defense. The one place where we can all agree we have NFL talent is the secondary, and it has been a crap show all season. Even against the directional schools.

Ugh...we've got to at least put it to A&M. If we are forced to eat a sh*t sandwich this year and only win 1 more SEC game, I damn sure hope it is that one...

It will have to be. The Rebellious Black Bears can smell the blood in the water and that blood is ours. I am afraid this could be very ugly.
