On the preview for Sportscenter they showed something that said LSU and Houston plan to move games. This is what is said on the bottom line, no confermation on this yet though.

But back to the Rita situation...

If the game has to be moved, I'd say move it to Sunday night or Monday night. It would suck for many people, but there isn't another open weekend, and this game needs to be played. And it seems to me it would be easier to just move it back a night than to try to change venues at this point. That would give the Tigers a day or two less to prepare for next week, but it's Miss State, so that shouldn't be a problem. I don't think it would be fair or feasible to move the game to TN...LSU has already had to trade a home game for an away. And moving it to another venue in the region, like Shreveport or somewhere would be logistically difficult b/c of all the traffic from Texas/SW LA and the fact that many people are being moved to shelters around. The game needs to be played in Tiger Stadium. Even if it's a day late.

I agree. And in fairness to MSU, not to disrespect them (much), but our staff probably had a pretty good idea on how we would scheme for the first few opponents of the season, so I don't think it would be that bad of situation to play a game on, say Monday, and again on Saturday afternoon.

BATON ROUGE -- As of 4:30 p.m. CDT, there has been no change in the status of the LSU vs. Tennessee football game scheduled for Saturday night in Tiger Stadium at 6:45 p.m.

They are working hard preparing for a game, I'll tell you that...

I just got back from campus, and they are testing stadium lights and all of that good stuff, so it sure doens't seem like that would be done if something changed

Wasnt trying to be negative but I had just posted in another thread how some on the tinysee boards where setting this up for a decesion that could be a major over reaction.

I agree that we should wait but I promise Marine is right, Phatimus is looking for a way out of this BIG TIME. :cry:

Well, we know what phat phil has been doing all afternoon ... from WAFB.com:

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer said Thursday afternoon he does NOT think the Tennessee-LSU game should be played as scheduled Saturday night in Baton Rouge.

Fulmer said he's concerned about safety, and said parents of some players have called concerned about the game. Baton Rouge could be affected by Hurricane Rita.

Tennessee players and coaches are scheduled to fly to Baton Rouge on Saturday morning. LSU, Tennessee and S-E-C officials have been meeting via conference call this afternoon to talk about whether the game should be held.

Ultimately, it's LSU's decision to make. Fulmer said he preferred to play the game at the end of the season.
