You ignored it in the other thread, how about now? Proof that he's right:

For the umpteenth time, here's what different and inexcusable about the Confederate statues vis a vis those of Washington and Jefferson:

The Confederate statues were erected as a deliberate affront to black Americans, in the time of Jim Crow and then Civil Rights, to memorialize people who fought AGAINST this country in an attempt to enslave people.

The Washington and Jefferson memorials were erected to memorialize people who fought FOR this country, and whose contributions would ultimately lead to the blessings of liberty for everybody, even though they, themselves, were far from perfect.

The matter of who owned slaves and when is circumstantial and mostly irrelevant.

Were you in one of those meeting where they said "you know what will piss black people off? A statue of Robert E Lee". If anything I would think it was probably more of a middle finger to Washington DC if I had to guess which is what I have to do considering..... I wasn't there

Dream on. The same group that back Landrieu on the Confederate statues in New Orleans is advocating taking down statues of Andrew Jackson, Bienville (founder of NO) and even Joan of Arc.

I wouldn't have an issue with Jackson even though that statue is pretty awesome, he was a terrible man.

Just a thought to consider; Blacks, all women, Indians, Asians and latinos are minority groups so doesn't that really make white males the true minority?

He saved New Orleans and Jackson Square is part of the French Quarter tourist attraction.
