I disagree, the father deserves some blame but he isn't the one who pumped rounds into a vehicle. Cops are just as likely to be violent criminals than any other sect of society. Here is a video of a 17 year beaten beaten and repeatedly punched in the face by a plainclothes officer in Metarie.

The father is an idiot but he had no reason to think the police would shoot up the car over a warrant. The police have the responsibility to use their weapons responsibly. They are supposed to be trained and following procedures, which DO NOT allow them to open fire irresponsibly. These city marshals were not even regular cops. They work for the Clerk of Court and mainly serve subpoenas and warrants. They carry badges and guns, but I suspect there training is minimal as well as their pay. When the guy ran, they should have called for backup from State Police and the Parish Sheriff. You can't outrun a radio.

Carry permit owners are neither trained, nor operating under standard procedures. We just have to hope that they will be reasonable and responsible and many simply are not.

Looked like that 17 year old was resisting. Had both hands up and trying to push officer off. Using his fist and not a billy club or taser was a good choice in my book. AGAIN, the lesson here is to comply.

Isn't it your natural reaction to try and cover your face?

Yes and I don't do that with arms extended. The problem here though, the 17 year old is pushing the cop away before the cop starts wailing (sp?) away; as well as during the pounding.

Wouldn't matter if he identified himself as law enforcement and showed his badge.
