Rather than focusing on these things we should focus on why people use guns and change behavior. Whatever happened to treating others with respect? More importantly treating others as we would WISH to be treated. Man is a violent predator by nature. One function of society is to give us a way to deal with each other without resorting to violence and to funnel that aggression To places that it can be used without harm such as sports. It also demands we not accept breeches of this because our'friends' are the ones doing it. It sort of like Bill Bratton's clean streets policing theory. If you don't allow little violations you'll prevent more serious crime.
Rather than find the lowest common denominator we need to challenge and be challenged to be better people. That isn't easy and going to get harder every passing day. I understand it will never be perfect but ar its core violence is a me and you problem not a law problem. If you treat people like animals they'll act like animals. There is too large a portion of our society that doesn't understand this or thinks the E been so alienated there is no reason to conform. You can't stop it by crushing them...we need to educate AND accept them and bring them into our society.

Are you kidding me? Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of. Its real simple; criminals by nature will get guns and guns that are equipped with the cpacity to fire many rounds. If a thug has a 15 round clip I want one with a 16 round clip. Politicians, sports star and Hollywood are protected we are not. When seconds count the police are minutes away. Government works for us not the other way around.

Three would-be robbers were shot and killed Monday when an Oklahoma homeowner's son opened fire on them with an AR-15, authorities said. Wagoner County sheriff's deputies were called to the home in Broken Arrow, southeast of Tulsa at around 12:30 p.m. local time. When they arrived, they found the three dead suspects and two uninjured residents.

CENTER POINT, AL (WBRC) - For 21 years, John Croft lived in his Center Point virtually problem free until last summer. “I’ve been a prisoner in my house,” he said. Croft, who is 79, says the burglaries began last June. Since then, he says his house has been broken into 13 times. The most recent case came around 1:15 Wednesday morning “When I heard the noise, that's when they opened the window from the basement coming to the level where the bedrooms are,” he recalled. Jefferson County deputies say there were two men inside. Another, driving the getaway car, waited outside. “I have three bedrooms. I think they checked the other two bedrooms out and then he came over there and said, 'Don't move!' He heard the bed squeak. I was getting my gun. He said, 'Don't move' and he used the ‘N’ word and I shot,” Croft recounted later Wednesday. “I hate that boy dead, but I don't hate i shot him.

Just wanted to go on record as saying the guy should have stopped and not run from the cops. Do what they ask and you avoid loss of life. That is what we say when white cops kill black perps.

The 40 yrs is steep imo. Guy didn't intentionally shoot the kid. Had his pops stopped instead of run, kid would be here today. Pops should share in SOME way.

Never would've seen that if it were a white cop and black kid.

Personally I think we should be allowed to own any type of gun we want. You aren't going to stop gun violence. It's just not going to happen. And with social media and the way kids are being raised today good luck with the empathy for others thing @Winston1 even though you pointed out it's getting harder everyday. Now, I don't feel like every tom dick and Harry should be allowed to bring their AR into Chilis.
