he was trying to set it up like a math problem what comes next, 1, 3, 5, 7, ? you get it now? you're destroying his model airplane
ok, first of all imho, it doesn't matter if you're white or black or highly touted or not, LSU has a better chance at a nat'l championship in odd years. '01 was too early '03 NC '05 Katrina loss to #10 tenn. and loss to UGA in conf title game where JR got injured and many others were banged up in a very unique year. '07 nat'l championship. even years: '02 still to early '04 randall and a young JR '06 losses to the #3 and #5 teams on the road. there's no reason to believe JR would'nt have won one this year just like flynn did, but he left early. JR was great in his own right but i'm glad flynn who stuck around got to take part in this special year just like i'm glad JR got picked #1 and got the dollars. If LSU competes for the SEC next year it'll be a great year but they'll probably do so with a loss or two. if nothing too crazy happens after that this team will be stacked in '09 and have tough trips to athens and t town but should make another nc run.
Interesting topic of discussion about whether we win with JR this year. Obvious answer would be yes. But taking a closer look, Flynn's ability to run with the ball made this team a lot tougher to defend (something JR would not have brought to the table).
Well, with no due respect, you are an idiot. When I was thinking about it, I was thinking in terms of perceived TALENT vs. the perception of not so talented. Discussions of whether Mauck and Flynn had "what it takes to lead us to the promised land" have occurred hundreds of times on this forum. I had no thought of white vs. black until I previewed the post and decided to put in the disclaimer because I knew what many would think. In retrospect, I should not have used the "numbers game" theme, but I did. Point out ONE word or phrase in my post that mentions race and I will eat the crow.
lol... and given he knew the thread would go one way or another means he thought about it, which indicates he hasn't "arrived" either. Me, I deal with and evaluate my biases and prejudices every day... and have never claimed "arrival". It's a goal yet attained.
well not to hijack this thread but it's not like jr was peyton manning when it came to mobility (i.e. tenn in knoxville) he may have not been the most agile guy but he could tuck it and run which is the same thing flynn did. there just wouldn't have been designed runs using JR (as much) or options (not that flynn was used alot on options compared to RP). also take into acct that flynn played much of the season banged up. he was never a major downfield threat like russell but even less so with the injuries. either way i think seeing russell playing for crowton would've been just as successful as flynn's year this year. crowton would've gone deeper more to stretch the field whereas this year flynn's threat to run kept the D on their toes.
You don't know me. You don't know how my parents raised me and you don't know a GD thing about my beliefs.
