You started it. I'm one of the LSU fans that don't mind Tommy Tuberville. The main reason why I like Auburn the least of all other SEC teams is because I hate the fact that they call themselves Tigers. I don't like Clemson for the same reason. It may sound silly, but there it is. I'm also one of the LSU fans that kind of likes Ole Miss, even though there's a bitter historical rivalry there.
I just finished my freshman year at LSU, and my best advice is... Start making friends with people in classes and your dorm/apartment - that way you have peep to hit up the games with. SIT IN THE STUDENT SECTION AT EVERY FOOTBALL GAME. Student Gov't offers trips to alot of the away SEC games where you can go with lots of LSU students. Its a great time and good way to meet even more people. Pre-gaming is great fun before... well, anything. Just make sure your sober enough to get past the entrance. They have police that will throw you out if your obviously wasted. Alcohol isn't to hard to sneak in, but be careful mixing or drinking it - police are walking around in the student section alot. And definantly try and make it to atleast some Baseball & Men's basketball games.
I did not know that. 'Preciate the tip. I'll definitely put that on my list of stops to make next time through. :thumb:
I chose LSU because this is where I have wanted to go my whole life. My father is from BR and my grandmother and all my aunts and uncles still reside in BR. I visited BR every summer and have every front page of the advocate that is meaningful to LSU sports (all 5 CWS titles, 2 SEC championships, 2 Sugar Bowls) in my room. I have been to two home football games, Tulane in '01 and UGA last year. I have been to every game LSU has played in Atlanta, Peach Bowls, both SEC championships. I even went up to Blacksburg to watch them play VT. There really wasn't another option unless I got a football scholarship from a D-1 or D-1AA school, which i didn't. On a side note, there are a lot of people from the Atlanta area who are coming to LSU next year. I convinced 2 of my friends from High School to go there and I have met at least 10 people who are coming too. I think the National Championship really put LSU on the national college map.
LSU is pretty greek oriented. Alot of functions and events are put on by the fraternities and sororities. Are you planning on joining a fraternity?
There are a lot of Greek geeks but even more GDI's. Don't believe for a second that you need to go Greek to have a blast at LSU. I also wouldn't call LSU "Greek oriented" not by a long shot, not even close.    :hihi: :hihi: :thumb: :thumb: Either way you go you should enjoy the expeience and hopefully will even learn a thing or two. :thumb: :thumb: :hihi: :hihi:
Maybe it just seemed that way to me because almost every person from my highschool at LSU (close to 100) - went greek. It definantly isn't necessary though. I didn't go greek and had a great time my freshman year.
That's funny. I guess I'm right the opposite. I tend like other teams that are Tigers if for no other reason.
