This is basically what I was trying to say, but more concise.

How many "great coaches" are you counting out there?

So if I'm getting your point, had Saban stayed at LSU you don't feel he would have sustained the success he created. See, my impression, before south beach, was that LSU HAD BECOME that tree shredding machine in the SEC. I never got the impression that 2004, 9 and 3 team was any indication the program was going anywhere. Obviously, the pieces where well in place for another run.

Such a gigantic ego would surely strive for sustained excellence. Who could be satisfied with just one parade? Don't you honestly believe that Saban takes great pride knowing he's regarded as a two time NC winner? The competitor in him has got to be thinking three.

I don't need to count them. Over history there have been more than several. Saban isn't the only one you know. I am sure he is thinking 3, but to him projects where he brings a sleeping giant back to life is more rewarding than sustaining the product he creates. Look at his track record, including his stint with the Fish. Everywhere he has been, it has been the project of bringing a once prominent program back to life. Sorry Tusk, be happy if you keep him 2 more yrs, after that I see him off to his next project. Like it or not you are just a notch in his belt for him to feed his ego.

You know what would be awesome. If when Bama comes to town this year instead of everyone booing and tiger baiting and yelling obscenities, which opposing teams and coaches obviously love. I think it would be a bigger blow to Saban's ego if the whole stadium got quiet and either turned around with their backs turned to him, or broke out a newspaper when he came out on the field.

I'm sure considering Saban's ego, he's probably got plans for that himself. It's just that he would rather it be when he's leaving.

Or that he was a failure in the NFL and still has unfinished business there and something to prove to himself.

If by then, we have our three-peat, I'll help him pack.

Don't count on it. Based on history repeating itself the SEC should fall short of making it to the MNC this upcoming season, with LSU making their way back in for the 2011-2012 season. Sorry Bama fan, you've had your rise to the top, enjoy the trip back to earth and the message will be Saban "Out".

    Amazingly similar [IMG]

The man has no emotional tie to either of his championships. Expect the same end results Bama fan.

I would really caution you against against any comparison of the two men. Saban is a good coach; he helped LSU a lot and got us out of a deep rut. But when it comes to integrality, he doesn’t compare to Coach Bryant.

The "Bear" was a “man of his word”. Saban doesn’t know the meaning of that phrase and never will.
