Teams like Florida Atlantic and Iowa St are included in this poll whereas LSU is not. If you are upset by this then you should start questioning your sanity. (This poll is a joke)
There are a few things I see that give them value. An injury, if you weren't aware of it happening during spring camp, you'll notice if a team drops several places. One significant role it plays ... let's call it a trickle down effect. These "too early" polls do have AP voters attention. They look and see who guys like Schlabach are touting and will give them a look if not credence in their own poll. Whether the CFP committee admits it or not they pay attention to what the AP poll voters are saying (both in votes and print.) They pay attention to things like the "Power Polls." So, in the end the committee has been swayed--perhaps unconsciously. Too early > Pre-Season > Week One of the CFP ... I think there's an influence throughout.
I think he’s Mr. Dumbass. Let me just say, I’ve come to accept that DUMBASS is my favorite, go to word.
Terry, While what you are saying is true. I don't put stock in it for this reason: LSU can always play to the top of the poll or straight out, and they are one of the few that can.
Given those circumstances I'd say any P5 team could do that. Look no further than '14 with Mississippi State moving to #1 by week eight.
