We don't play UT on the same weekend every year, FWIW. The 3rd Saturday in October series ended (although we've still played on that weekend a few years) when the SEC split up in to two divisions. Because the SEC offices are in B-ham? AU vs UGA is the longest series in SEC history. Bama vs UT goes back for decades upon decades. I simply don't understand your point here. Maybe I'm obtuse, but I simply don't get it.
i don't think you're obtuse. you simply feel these cross division rivalries should be played every year. i do not. the SEC feels the same way you do. i'm just saying that i don't think it's a coincidence these games stay as annual games instead of fairly rotating the inter divisional schedule and that the SEC offices are in b-ham. if bama and AU were'nt locked into such traditional rivalries with inter division schools and let's say Kentucky and Miss St was the marquee rivalry, then the SEC would have gone to fairly rotating the inter divisional games relatively long ago. edit: this is my opinion as a fan. it would probably be different if we had Vandy as our lock.
my guess is that the offices are in bham because its a big city, centrally located, and not home to an SEC school. same reason you find seccg fball in atl, the sugar bowl in n.o., and memphis used sometimes. do you expect them to have the offices in some one light town like tupelo or out of the way like little rock? do you think if bama was geographically on the edge of the sec, like say lexington, that the offices would be in louisville?
Technically, going by the written BCS formula, your right. Other than that, you are totally wrong. You don't think human voters take into account opponents SOS when submitting a pole??? That makes up over 2/3 of the BCS formula. That VT game last year bumped us up many more spots in the poles than if it would've been Troy. The winner of the USC vs Ohio St game next year will have a HUGE bump in the human poles every week.
I think Ted Miller has demonstrated his objectivity before, and it’s just hard for me take him seriously – LINK
that guy is awful. i wonder if he died a little inside when LSU won the nat'l championship. i'd like to think that he did. i always joke and say that miles was way off...he either didn't give stanford enough credit, or he gave USC too little. also the biggest problem with so many taking miles' comments to heart is that they were made at a booster function not a press conference. he wouldn't have said that had he known it would've gotten out.
The Thursday night games should be left to the MS St. / South Carolina type teams. I'm surprised Auburn has agreed to some. They are better than that.
