good point tiga... no doubt VT is in the NCG game last year because of who they lost to had it not been that team was one on the ones in contention to be in that game.

on the other hand...USC aint even in the conversation because of who they lost to.

seems like the SOS weights heavily when you get down to it at the end of the season. remember....we jumped 6 spots on the last weekend to get into that game....ONLY because of the VT win.

This is pure myth. AU was left out due to the quality of their resume, i.e. their SOS. It's the reason why pratically every computer model under the sun had them ranked third. This preseason ranking crap has no real basis in fact. Let's look at AU a little closer.

Yes, AU was ranked 17th in preseason, but by 9/19 they were in the top 10. After handling GA quite easily, AU actually tied OK in the AP on 11/14. Subsequently, they fell behind. Which rationale for the dropping after the tie makes more sense:
    • AP voters slapped themselves on the forehead saying, "Crap! I forgot that I had AU ranked lower in preseason! I've got to change my vote next week!" Or,
    • AU was hammered by the talking heads about their OOC sched, and "Remember the Citadel!" was cry heard coast to coast. This, coupled with a lethargic and uninspired win over a very average Bama team, gave voters cause to compare resumes and found AU's wanting.
One of those three teams was going to be left out. AU got screwed in the sense that there wasn't room for three. The system made it's choice based on the resumes, not preseason rankings.

That's what I was saying. Wins & losses being the same, their SOS didn't allow them to jump either one.

    Don't forget La-Tech and UL-Monroe.

The "INTERESTING" thing in that video is the suggestion that we schedule USC at home. Do you think USC would play us in our stadium in a nonconference game? Hmmmmm......... I'm getting aroused.

Yes in principle but obviously with some requests for the return. Would LSU agree to play USC at the Coliseum with no return game at Death Valley?
