But you missed my entire point. I said race was AN issue but not THE issue.

You missed my point, I dont care what your point was and what you said. I was responding to Rush Limbaugh and Buchanan. I dont agree it was an issue and I dont agree that Powell is racist. My post was pointing out the irony of their comments. This is a guy, who is a general, a hero, and a conservative republican. All of a sudden Limbaugh says he is a racist. Even though the guy was in the trenches with G. Bush, I just dont think race is an issue with the guy, or he would have been stomping around like Al Sharpton.

You took it to another level with a personal attack on me, when you didnt realize what my comments where truly about. I dont appreciate that at all. Ive always been very favorable to you and about you to anyone here. But you definitely just pushed me into a generalization. "Typically" isnt something to describe me.

Both of these guys have some serious European heritage, mon ami. The black and white world we grew up in has many shades of gray these days.

I agree with you 100%. I think Powell looked at these two candidates and the direction the country is headed and went with the guy who he thought is not going to continue the policies that got us where we are.

I disagree with his assessment. I think Obama will be an even worse President than W, if that's possible, but I take Powell at his word when he says why he chose Obama.

It's hard, but I think if anyone is up to the task it is Obama or McCain. McCain would continue the same failed policies and Obama would inact radically different ones, that just happen to be no better.

At least with McCain some good ole fashioned partisan gridlock might keep us from going more in the wrong direction.

Tough call, JC was certainly way below average. But no, not the worst. The Iran hostage crisis doesn't add up to the Iraq War and Great Depression II as far as failures. And creating the world's largest marine preserve does not add up to the Camp David accords as far as achievements. It stuck, too. Israel and Egypt have not been at war ever since.

    I shouldn't mention Jimmuh's Nobel Prize, I suppose . . .

I found it odd that Powell endorsed Obama but not a huge shock since he split with the W. administration on what seemed like less than ideal terms. I like and respect Colin Powell. I always figured he'd be the first african american to be a major factor in the presidential race.
