this word play, I said inequalities. No, that version of America isnt life today, but racism surely does still exist in many institutions around this great nation. So yes some people feel it as a form of oppression. I said in my last post, I have no sympathy in the form of breaking the law, the neighborhood doesnt really matter to me.
But Kaeper did use the word oppression didn't he..... Many institutions? LIke what? Hell, there are government jobs that are black only. Ever since women started acting up they now have their own select jobs too. If your black and a women, all you need to do is sign your name..... There are all black colleges, scholarships, etc. Lots have been done for blacks and a lot of that is blacks only.
Maybe I am rude and maybe I am also a rude dick, but I just can't see how a young black person wakes up today, sees a black president, sees blacks holding all sorts of high political jobs, even in cities like Baltamore, etc, and thinks they are being oppressed.
black colleges started out of a need for higher education institution, dont be naive, you know why we have historical black colleges.Seeing state troopers at the steps of state colleges refusing to let blacks enter. again, i stated this earlier, government jobs where all blacks had to turn too, when they were kept out of the free market job system. I dont agree with affirmative action, but it was clearly a need for it back then. Not so much now. but Kaep is using the wrong word in oppression, imo.
yes you are all of those adjectives, but nothing wrong with that and you make a great point. I said its not a monolithic issue. the majority of blacks I know are doing very well. We have our issues just like an other community, I wouldnt lump you with every terrible white person.
The facts are that the judge is a Stanford alum. He should have recused himself. Stanford has a rape problem on campus. Again, talk to me about the overwhelming amount of cases that support the fact that athletes, black and white, are the recipients of privilege. Yes, he can protest and I can call him a hypocrite. He's the worst kind. He's accepting millions and using the NFL platform to protest when his own teammates and the league he plays for have beaten and covered up the spousal abuse of women that has gone on for decades. And you can stop with the emotionally charged words like rant and hate. Neither of those were present in my comments. It's a lame tactic. Did you read the comments I had for the white dingbat at Missouri who tried to protest? How about for the protests put on by the Westboro Baptists? It isn't about the race of the protester. I was raised to respect the flag, the country, and the National Anthem. It bothers the hell out of me when people burn the flag, spit on the flag, don't salute the flag. That's just me. Hell, I almost got my ass beat at the Coliseum the last time Notre Dame came out because a couple of irish fans wouldn't shut up during the anthem and I asked them to zip it. It didn't go well. My daughter was embarrassed. But she knows there are some things that I hold dear. Kapernick doesn't agree.....fine. I'ma still say what I think.
There are other influences on development in Africa that had significant effect. The most troublesome was and still is the geography and climate. The rivers and other geographical features aren't conducive to opening communication and commerce. African unity, communication and growth is inhibited by the isolation of the different tribes and populations. The ability to communicate and interact spurs growth in societies without it growth is limited or stagnate. The Tse-Tse fly made/makes vast areas uninhabitable and communications between communities very limited. This is still an issue even with modern medicine and control. Likewise the climate, rainforest limited contact. Look at the early Middle East, Europe, China etc. they all had some of the advantages Africa lacked. Yes the depredations of the slave trade were catastrophic and took untold potential. However I believe Africa has so many geographic and climatic challenges that even without slave trade growth would have been behind the rest of the world. Please don't take this as a reduction or avoidance of the impact of the trade or an excuse to reduce its inhumanity. It also isn't a shot at Africans intelligence or drive. It's a point about the enormous challenge Africa faced/faces in developing.
I'm not saying that every kid who signs a scholarship really believes that in 3 years some guy in an Armani suit is going to drive up in a Brinks truck with a contract in his hand. So do but I think most or realistic about their chances. But by playing football many kids who would be unable to afford to go to college are able to get an education. That gives them access to higher paying white collar jobs that they would have no shot at if not for the opportunity given to them by football and to a lesser extent basketball.
One doesnt necessarily have to do with the other, classicism and racism dont go hand an hand. Yes it was a rant, you presented a zero sum game scenario, when my post had to do with an example of sentencing inequality, you have narrowed my example down to just athletes and when it doesnt begin nor end with just athletes. Thats a deflection in my book. here is another example. http://www.insideedition.com/headli...obation-wont-have-to-register-as-sex-offender You can be offended about peoples perceived disrespect of the flag, but thats not everyones reality in this country, right or wrong, people perceive it differently. lets take Jackie Robinson, who said he couldnt salute or stand up during the national anthem. How about Jesse Owens, who basically spat in Hitlers face, returned home and getting even obtain a job, was racing horses because of racism. Should he be so gun ho to salute the flag? hell my grandfather, US Army, on the beach during the D-Day invasion. I cant event talk about what he returned to in Louisiana after the war without getting pissed off. My point is, its about perception and peoples experiences, sure you can be mad, but he can protest as well. You dont have to agree with his personal opinions on his protest, but that doesnt mean injustices dont exist. and dont fucking lecture me on whats lame, i say what i want and believe.
