You guys got a point but unless LSU plays better next week or the rest of the season we don't have to worry about a ranking from here on out! :dis:

    So forget about it!

    Buford,

Last year, it was the Strength of Schedule (SOS) that got LSU into the championship game. Sportswriters wanted USC vs. Okla. The old BCS formula got it right. Most on this board were thankful. Now it has been changed, and SOS does not count this year. LSU liked SOS in the formula, because it was not a matter of "opinion" and could not be "manipulated". Most on this board felt there was a media bias against southern teams in general. So it was changed and SOS is out of the BCS formula; now it is based on the "polls".

Ga. will have to go undefeated, and pray a team ahead of it loses, to get into the BCS championship, because there is a media bias involved.

I'd like to think I'm wrong on this, but that's the way I feel. Sorry to break it to you.

I'm pulling for Ga., as I would like to see the SEC claim two consecutive championships because it makes us look so good as a conference. But, you'll have to be good and lucky to make it., IMHO.

I hate to tell you folks this but they may have missed auburn by one year. I know everyone hates auburn but I 'll call it like i see it. biggest SEc matchup to come Auburn and UGA.

Wow, LSU remained ranked, #24, in both polls.

To me, this is a sign of respect. LSU has not showed a whole lot this season yet is still ranked. The only two loss team ranked too.

Week after week I come to these poll threads and say that the voting is fair. For LSU to be in the top 25 after two early season losses . . . I still feel the same way. We have lost to two top programs, so it is fair for LSU to be ranked in the top 25. To keep that ranking we will have to beat FL.

I do feel UGA should be ranked higher, but it's tough to move up when the top 2 teams haven't lost yet. However, plenty of teams that were slated for easy wins this weekend did lose . . .so I suspect anything can happen next week when SC and OK face real threats. UGA also has a tough test, so if all three win I feel it is possible for UGA to jump up a spot. I doubt SC and Ok will go undefeated, then again it will be very hard for UGA to go undefeated. It could be one of those years where the preseason #15-#20 ends up being the NC.

    Let's be honest.

We could lose to Florida next week. If we do, we will drop out of the Top 25. If that happens, there's no need to panic, because we all know that we could get back in the Top 25 by improving and finishing at 8-3.

I think you are wrong here... Is LSU's ranking fair, I think so, maybe even more generous than we deserve.

However, Saying the rankings as a whole are fair, I think you are way off. Is it fair that an unbeaten, impressive, dominant Arizona State team sits at 20, while an Ohio State team that's lucked out in previous games, and then lost to a horrible Northwestern team is ranked ahead of them?!

Is the fact that Georgia and Auburn both destroyed quality competition while USC struggles against Stanford, yet Georgia can't make up any ground fair?

Is it fair that a team is ranked at the beginning of the year based on how likely they are to go undefeated instead of how good they are as a team? Think about this, USC was made number one because they had an easy schedule and everyone believes they will be undefeated. Look at West Virginia, they were ranked high simply because they had an easy schedule and experts THOUGHT that they could go unbeaten. Does that make them worthy of a high ranking?!! I think it should be quite the opposite.

Rankings at the beginning of the season should be made STRICTLY on how good a person thinks the team ACTUALLY is. It should NOT be a prediction on their final position. That should have to be EARNED! Not handed out at the beginning of the year.

Because of this flaw in the ranking system, USC has been handed No. 1, and according to you and most experts, they shouldn't drop unless they lose. So what does that mean? Georgia or Auburn could go undefeated in the SEC (Which I fully believe is the toughest conference in the nation, and DEFINITELY better than the Pac-10) and still not make it into the National Championship game. And why? Because USC and Oklahoma are gift wrapped the top two spots and no one can pass them because they don't lose. (Which I would argue is because they are never tested).

I can't see how you can consider that fair. That's precisely why I believe the old BCS system was much better than the current one.

Sorry LSUfan, I don't mean to call you out in particular, I just needed to get this off my chest because their are a lot of people who's voice counts that think the same way you do. I just don't believe it's right and wanted to vent.
