By the half, Alabama had nothing to offer to counteract what Auburn was throwing at them. The very unfortunate thing for Auburn is that they did not put 7 on the board like they should have late in the first half, so that the voters out there would not be looking at a 6-0 skunking (in their minds) of Auburn. Style counts a lot this year. Auburn just didn't win it in the style the voters required, it appears.
Auburn fans won't come on here and compain about it. That would be suicide. I just want a justified system of voting, and we did not get it this week. Auburn should be #2 in both polls.
OU will end up with .980 and Auburn with a .920 in the computer polls, which mean that they need only 50 points to overtake OU.
I think AU may very well be the best team in the country but their OOC schedule was ridiculous and I think they are getting penalized for it and rightly so. If AU ends up playing for the national championship after playing those cup cakes then why should anyone schedule tough OOC teams? You factor in the fact AU was rated so low preseason along with their easy OOC schedule and that gives them a tremendous hurdle to overcome no matter how dominant their season has been.
yes and georgia is ranked too high also. the canes should be somewhere around where we are. Georgia maybe a notch or two down from where they are. Coaches poll is a joke. I used to think the Ap writers were the lame brains, but these guys give it a run for the money. why is istls scared of Iowa?
I agree, but think about the other side of the equation. We all know why the SEC schedules cupcakes for their OOC schedule, but think about this. The PAC-1 is such a weak conference, that they have to schedule tough(er) OOC opponents just bolster their SOS. What a joke. And it's not like their OOC opponents are really anything to brag about, but they are stronger thhan some of the directional schools out there.
It's too bad their OOC sched was so bad, no one to blame but themselves for that (looks a lot like LSU's from last year). Had they scheduled a couple of decent teams to replace especially someone like The Citadel and UL-Monroe, then they could be competing heavily for most of the computer polls for the #1 or #2 spots.
Maybe Stoops will come out with another rant this week about how the computers are bias.....that has to be it. No way, god forbid, that not everyone loves OU.
I'm not sure why more schools don't do this. They could schedule mid to lower tier schools in BCS conferences, still (for the most part) get their wins, and add a little legitimacy to their OOC sched.
He wasn't ranting about the computers. The computers have us #1. He was answering some questions directed to him by the local media about the ESPN media azzholes.
