ASU 8-2 @ # 20 Iowa 8-2 @ # 14 ASU - 44 Iowa - 7 This game was actually played on the field, and Iowa got destroyed. Yet with the same record they are 6 spots ahead of ASU...great job pollsters :thumb:
That's a fantastic way at looking at things. You have to take the entire season into consideration. And right now, Iowa is the best 2 loss team in the country.
Why does the AP poll hold LSU accountable for ugly wins... yet teams like Boise State, Miami, Georgia etc... have also had ugly wins and are above us? And may I add some ugly losses to unranked teams (bar BSt. undefeated).
Yeah, I always felt actually playing the game on the field was a fantastic way of looking at things too. ASU lost to #1 USC and #4 Cal. They have every right to be pissed right now.
I respectfully disagree. AU did not dominate Bama by any stretch of the imagination. Stats do not lie. You can't assume if AU was more aggressive the outlook would have been different. If AU tried to be more aggressive Campbell could have thrown an interception that Bama could have returned for a TD. Maybe that's why Tubby played conservative because he wanted to make sure he got the W. Bama was moving the ball affectively on their last scoring drive. (Looked like AU's D was tired) If they would have got the onside kick who knows what the outcome would have been. The stats were even, the score was close and the game was not decided until AU recovered the onside kick. Where's your domination? That's not a good enough performance to sway voters.
Do you realize how many recruits were on the side line for the iron Bowl - recruits that are considering both Bama and/or Auburn? Sportsmanship and class mean much more than running up a score. Bama was "in it " for the first quarter...after that it was all Auburn. Auburn did what they needed to do, nothing more nothing less. If they manage to beat UT and go undefeated, then so much the better for exposing the BCS for what it is. The BCS is a sham system designed to appease the Bowl "we-helped-make-CFB-what-it-is-today" System economics. Do you think abc is backing out of BCS contract negotiations soley because a fith game was forced into the bid package? Hardly........
But the College Presidents don't want a 4+1 playoff system. I still don't see what is their gripe about it.
It wouild have taken about a 60 point swing. BTW, you whine more about the situation than even the Auburn fans on this board. They don't really even whine.
No, they weren't. Check the yardage and TOP by quarter and you'll see that the change in momentum actually occurred in Q2 althought the change in play-call strategy wasn't adjusted until the half. :thumb:
