The Hawkeyes could have just as easily been 9-2, a dropped pass in the endzone to win at the end of the Michigan game, which we lost in OT, and blowing a big lead to NW where they had to recover an onside kick, then scored in the last seconds (that one was payback from you guys, I'm sure).

Being not big on shoulda/woulda's, I'll just say if we continue to give away games (uncharacteristic, for sure), like spotting Florida a punt return TD and an interception for a TD before the game "got going", then, yes, tOSU will kick our butts, as will others.

But, it IS a new season. There's a new one each year. And let me add, there are few cakewalks. If tOSU beats Texas, Iowa, Penn State, MSU and Michigan... that schedule is just as demanding as anything any other team will face.

I actually think PSU will win the big 10 but osu will still end up 11-1. and besides ou then I think it looks good. This was made before bomar got released.

Also, it's not like I'm predicting Ohio St to fall off the map. I expect another 9-3, 10-2 season, just not a national championship or an outright big 10 title.

Wow, there's plenty to love with this poll if you're an LSU fan--teams 1-2 and 3-4 play one another, so 2 of your top 4 will lose at least once this season. OU just crapped the bed, so they're not a threat and LSU having 2 top 10 teams on the schedule also helps immensely.

Number 9--about what I hoped for going into the season. A win over AU has LSU in the top 5, possibly higher if (when-?) OU falls on the road to Oregon, by Sept 17.

Not true--LSU did not lose anyone near the caliber of VY going into 2004, yet they did not start the year in the top 2.

So this falls more in line with my argument. I don't remember Ohio St fielding an offense the year they won the NC, anyways...? Ohio St recruits well and has strong coaching. I think I take Tressell over Carr, Paterno, and Mack Brown. I hate his offense though.

IMO, the only reason Ohio St. and Texas are 1, 2, is so they can hype their early season matchup as a matchup of #1, and #2.

But, looking at the teams ahead of us, I like our chances if we play the way we are capable of.
