It was game 1, dude. Lighten up. If we're talking about this, midway thru the season, then I'd think it to be a problem. But undefeated is undefeated.

Ohio St. won a :crystal: winning UGLY, 13-6 and 17-14 games. Remember that.

At the end of the day, getting the "W" is what's most important.

Ya know, I usually fight fire with fire. You're typically a smartass, and I'm pretty good at smartass too...so that's usually how I would rebut. But I'm gonna try...TRY...something different.

This thread is specifically about Stud. It isn't about the passing game. I mean, last night, I saw no confusion, no delay of game penalties except maybe when we were punting once, I saw LSU occasionally deciding THEY would be the ones clicking off a play every 8-10 seconds, (which worked...), and I saw NOTHING resembling last year's clusterfrick.

I agree that the passing game can be crisper. I just didn't expect it to be some Kurt Warner St Louis Rams era or Drew Brees Saints era passing game. I don't mind debating things that have a purpose, but there's no amount of debating you can engage in that's gonna change what LSU is. Many times, I've questioned in a smart arse way why you don't just go root for some other team that fits your very strict criteria of how an offense should be. This time, I really don't mean it as a smart arse question, but...why don't you? Clearly you're never gonna be satisfied with LSU...unless you temper or change your expectations of what offense should look like. Seems like you enjoy a high flying fast paced offensive gameplan. Well, there was one of those kind of teams on the field last night. Problem is, they got their arses handed to em in pretty embarassing fashion.

I was rooting for the team that was handing them their arses...the one with the boring offense. I win.

You are correct and that was a HUGE step in the right direction. I think that was by far the biggest difference in the move from Crowton to Kraigthorpe.
That might be the understatement of the day if not the week. I don't think anyone expects the passing game to do a 180 over night, but this is the 4th year of a below average passing attack. You expect considerable progress over a 4 year period with the same QB's especially when the bottom started so low. Progress last night seemed minimal although positive. Hopefully now that Kraigthorpe has seen JL play under live fire he will have a better idea of what is needed to move him and the passing game forward. It would be nice if Gonzales lived up to the hype and taught a couple of the very talented WR's he has been handed to catch the ball. Haven't been impressed with his stay here. I think Meyer might have known what he was doing by not promoting him.

I think the game plan was made long ago. That plan was with jj as qb. The plan was never to throw the ball. With jl in place or jj, the only diffrence in planning was the qb keeper was dropped. Jl ran the same game plan as jj would have. Now that they are planning for jl as qb we may see more passing attempts.
I am very happy to see the lack offensive penalties. We shot ourselves in the foot over and over last year. I think those days are over.
This is coach Miles' offense. This is the LSU offense. No gimmacks. No fancy dancy bullchit. It's smash mouth rub your face in the rocks and dare you to say a flopin word about it football. Like it, love it , live it. It's what we are and were going to win with it.

I realize you can't do this...but I'm gonna do it anyway...just for fun.

IF you could take away all the legitimate drops, the ones that hit receivers in their hands, Lee's stats look about like this...

    16-23 236 yds 2 TDs 0 INT

Now again, I KNOW you can't do that...but the point is, with more time working together, Lee and the receivers will both improve. We beat Oregon by 4 TDs if those stats happen.

Regardless, the point is, it had nothing to do with the offensive gameplan. I just didn't see a problem with the OC last night. I thought he called a good game, and I thought he called a smart game.

Given the drops, the only real issue I had with the play calling was after the deep pass to Beckham was called back. We torched the defense on a big pass play and then we run it twice on long yardage situations?

I do like the fact that we passed on early downs and threw downfield...and let's not forget Michael Ford. I don't want to get in trouble for being unappreciative about beating the #3 team in the nation.

His passing was fine. I remember at the Louisiana Tech game 2 years ago, Lee lofted a pass that hung so long I thought I could run out of the stands and snag it myself. Not so yesterday. His passes for the most part were good. He had a nice touch leading his receivers.:D
