Just when I thought LSU/Miles did something no LSU fans could complain about...sad. I just don't get the fascination with 'stats' and showy offensive performances. Any true football fan knows what wins football games, and LSU does both VERY well. And guess what...UO isn't a bad defense. Since some of you like stats so much, watch their defensive stats from here on out. They'll wind up a top 20 defense...and probably in the Rose Bowl. We beat the shyt out of them...nowhere NEAR as close as the scoreboard indicated. I guess some people just can't be pleased...smh.
I think we can still engage in a lively debate over whatever concerns us. I mean even you have to agree the passing game looks no better than it did last year, and that is troubling if that ends up being the case again this year. Lee along with our receivers MUST play much better than they did tonight. Wanting everybody to sing along to Kumbaya is not what a forum is for.
Very very happy with the win. That doesn't mean you have to be happy with an offense that looks like one of the nations worst.
well just the passing game, the running game looks like one of the nation's best so the offense is an enigma....how the heck can't you pass effectively when people are forced to snack the box? that has to change
The passing game would've looked leagues better had there been no drops and no bullsh*t holding call.
Its going to be a long year for ya bro LSU will run 70 % this year and you can write it down. I think our down field will get better but we are going to pound 8 in the box often. That is going to be the play so try to learn to think power and clock. We will never have a game with more than 25 pass attempts !!!!!!
Strange - but that is always the way - and usually the same folks. The Tigers did what they had to do to win against a very good team. As far as OC and passing – don’t forget we are a CLM team – we are going to run the ball all season – always have and always will. CLM was right in the postgame interview – the Tigers were “ready” for the Ducks. ldskule:
Spot on post!:thumb: Having said that, TT and Istsl do have some good points and legitimate concerns regarding the passing game. Some of it was dictated situationally. In the first half Lee looked a little rusty, but mostly the receivers were just dropping balls. In the second, we were ahead and getting turnovers, so the emphasis was pounding the ball and running the clock. Still, I thought they could have passed a little more often, or more correctly, not run when it was so predictable and was the 3rd or 4th time in a row. Certainly, running the ball and controlling the clock was the gameplan. I think we do see Lee throwing the ball a little more as the season goes, maybe 25+ times/game, but we will be a run first team probably all season. As long as we win, I will be happy! All in all, a great win, and we should all be very pleased!
Lee did fine last night and for the most part he threw the ball well. He did exactly what he needed to do, which was manage the game. Sure, there were a few not so pretty passes, but had our receiving corps not dropped several well thrown passes, Lee would have ended up about 16-17/22 with 150+ yards. For the first game against a team that's not Kent State, Utah State, or Billy Bob's University of Transmission Sales and Bait Shop Management, LSU's offense did exactly what it needed to.
