i know nothing about Searles, but with our run blocking 3/4ths of the season, this won't be devestating...

Also, consider this: No matter how good your 10-2 record looks, the 2 loses signal that you weren't perfect. Our run blocking struggled for the better half of the season.

Yeah, Searles resigned, but who's to say that Miles didn't inform him he would be replaced but was just waiting for signing day to fill him in? Granted, that's my speculation and nothing more.

Something that I havent seen in a while at LSU that they used to do is pull linemen... i rarely see anyone pulling... most of what i've seen has been zone-blocking... i am an angle and pull guy... nothing is tougher to defend that a fast running back sliding outside behind 2 300 lbs pulling guards...

    Ironic....

Jimbo and Searles...two coaches from Saban's regime and two coaches that it has been rumored to have little "spats" with Miles about coaching....be it scheme differences or being over-ruled.

Once Miles gets his guys in place (Jimbo not one of them, and Searles didn't work out after he kept him on)..don't expect him to get rid of them. At OSU, they had a horrible DC for years....put up atrocious #s as a defense...and he refused to get rid of him.

Granted, he 'let' him go somewhere else when he was hired here, but he didn't get rid of him while he was at OSU.

LSU does pull guards, but not like in the old days of running the I-formation. Brian Johnson pulled and broke open several big runs this year. Big Herm just doesn't have the quick feet. Plus big 300-pound guards with quick feet don't grow on trees. The last pulling guard we had at LSU who had both the size to block inside and the speed to pull and beat a linebacker to the corner was Alan Faneca.

He might not have been able to get a better one at Oklahoma State. He can get top coordinators to come to LSU.
