Somehow I just see SabanFan rocking in a chair at home repeatedly saying "our offense is doing fine, our offense is doing fine"

before this past week, ive been on the fence leaning to the prozac side with les. Im just more towards the middle now because he deserves full credit for the bama game. theres a reason bama has the best d in the land and why they make teams look inept. i think most people arent used to witnessing such games into todays ps2 era.

what was on display saturday was nothing more than a product of two great defenses. theres a reason vegas set the total at 35 initially. that means they figured it would end up about where it did since most ppl play over or probably even lower.

it landed just like the defensive stats dictated beforehand.

Miles took what was given to him and played field position which is the smart thing to do knowing bama wasnt moving an inch. that was the smart thing to do no matter how bad we wanted hang 30 on em.

bama wasn't going down without a fight. not in their house.

and just think if Bama blocks that very first punt or Croyle doesn't overthrow DJ Hall for 2 wide open passes for touchdowns early on?

you'd have a different view of pelini currently Im sure.

    them's the breaks.

Honestly, all I care about is winning. BUT I will be stand up and respond. To me, you are correct and this offense should be scoring a lot more.

However, unlike you I feel it is because Miles is the head coach. I really thought that having an offense oriented coach would allow for Jumbo to open up the passing game. It just has not happened though. Of course a lot of that has to do with lack of execution by the players causing more conservative coaching.

One thing I've wondered is why is Bennie Brazell getting so much playing time this season? I'm not trying to knock him, I'm just curious. Has he progressed that much since he's been here? Did Saban not like him? Does Miles see something Saban didn't? I know he's got blazing speed, but still. I was very surprised to see him starting in the Bama game.

I still wonder about our offensive execution. For instance, why do they keep sending JV up the middle when he was never known for his bruising running style? And why doesn't Skyler play as much? Maybe they're resting him for punt returns...but that doesn't work if the teams have learned not to punt to him or the coverage team can't block for him well enough.

This team has done well this year but I really believe a lot of it has to do with the talent, as opposed to the coaching (at least on the offensive side of the ball). I'm just still not convinced about Miles...

    But who's on second?
    Who was Saban bowing to?

I am beginning to see it this way more and more as the season moves along. I recall an uproar earlier this season when Miles publicly placed blame on the players for poor execution. It can be argued all day about whether he should have said it publicly but he has no choice to be conservative at times when execution is lacking.

Like Troy? Oregon State? Ole miss?

As opposed to losing in the 4th quarter (Iowa, Arkansas 2002]
    ?

How many games has the offense lost this year?

Like many detractors, you are delusional.

Starting Saturday, let'sgo in with a "let's not win" mentality. Would that be better?

SabanFan wants to outscore the opposition, so, yeah, I would say we are doing just fine.

Losing Alley Broussard REALLY hurt our offense. We simply are not as effective of a running team without him--especially now that Addai is banged up. Still, I was proud of JV on Saturday. No, he couldn't run up the middle, but he's starting to, once again, be explosive around the end.

Another thing hurt our offense early on--JR is NOT a true second-year QB. If you want to talk about coaching not to lose, and playing "tight," how about Saban rotating MR and JR last year, depending on who was hot at the moment. I feel like JR has come out and taken command of HIS team, and I also think he's going to go down as one of our best QB's at LSU. He could actually make it in the pros.

With all of that being said, I think we can really start opening up the offense more. The receivers are starting to catch the ball, and JR is looking like less of an interception machine. We may well need to pass to open up the run, instead of the other way around.

But I've always taken issue with Fisher's play calling--so nothing is new there.
