Right, even if they somehow managed to make it to Omaha, it's likely that they would have been 2 and done. I realize anything can happen in that setting, but given the quality of pitching we would face and the way we were hitting, it's doubtful that we would have had a deep run.

Good point. As much as I can't stand it, the game is now all about 'small ball' and not the 3 run HR. We've shown flashes of it at times, but I don't think we've fully adjusted to the way the game is played now.

You are starting to make me think that perhaps your bag of "clues" is empty or non-existant. I think you missed my point. Carry on, airman...................

I figured people would be calling for a coach to be fired today, as is typical when LSU does not meet the fans' unrealistic expectations.

The hitting was not great this year (ranked 93rd out of 291 NCAA teams), but I don't think firing the hitting coach is the answer. Baseball can often be a game of hot streaks and slumps. Unfortunately our hitting slumped at exactly the wrong time this season. In some prior years the hitting got hot at the right time and we reaped the benefits.

Overall it was a pretty damn good season. SEC championship, regional host, and a super regional host.

Out of genuine curiosity, how many hot streaks have we actually had since Javi was moved to hitting coach?

Not sure, that is not a stat that is tracked. For reference on batting average, just take a look at the rankings on NCAA.com. Here are the teams remaining in the tourney and their associated batting average ranking:

Florida 107 (doubt they're calling for the hitting coach's head)
    UCLA 13
    Baylor 10
    Arkansas 150
    Kent St 22
    Stony Brook 2
    South Carolina 173
    Oregon 206
    Arizona 4
    Florida St 112
