Not really. Our General is highly competent and has won many wars. Nobody wins them all. But the commander is responsible for making sure that all his subordinates are capable and must replace them and upgrade them when needed. Even the best units have flaws that must be addressed.

LSU mustered three hits last night to SB's fifteen. Stony Brook outscored LSU by a 14-8 margin for the weekend, they outhit the Tigers by a 35-15 margin. LSU hit .153 for the super regional. You can't play at this level with hitting like that.

The discipline SB showed with their batting, and the fact that they were able to make the LSU pitchers throw so many pitches was impressive.

Also, it would have been nice to see some baserunners at the times of those key HRs by LSU. It didnt seem like the coaches did very much to advance baserunners, when they had them. I was suprised not to see more hit and runs, and bunts laid down on LSU's part.

It was clear to me late in the season that our hitting coach needed to be replaced. We were shy as hell at bat, and watched entirely too many meat pitches cross the plate. There was a propensity to strike out looking, or to work the count to 2 strikes by not swinging. Then it seemed like we didn't know what to do with it once we did decide to swing. Saw a lot of weak ground balls and fly-outs on perfectly good pitches. Of course, once you are facing a 2-strike count, you become a lot more focused on simply protecting the plate rather than trying to make good contact, so the whole approach changes.

Also, CPM needs to quit running us out of innings. I love being aggressive on the base paths, but he frequently sends the runners at times when base-runners are at a premium. He needs to scale it back a bit.

I really didn't see many games this year...mostly radio. But If those of you who saw a lot of games this year say we have a hitting problem...I believe you.

Hitting can be coached. The eye is instinctive, but hitting technique is coachable.

I like Mainieri as a game manager and head coach...but LSU needs to learn how to hit the ball and string together those hits with smart base running to produce runs. I'm not sure we're a good base running team.

This is another part of the problem that I touched on earlier. He likes to steal too much for a coach without a whole lot of team speed. The 2009 team had plenty of athletes, so the aggressive approach was fine. But it seemed like he kind of ignored that at times this season.

So one guy's success is enough not to have any concern?

That's comparing apples and oranges in my opinion.

Sure, as long as his hitting coach can find a way to have him hit multiple times throughout the line-up.
Hoepfully you realize that a quarterback has a much higher bearing on a football teams total offensive output than a single batter does for an entire baseball team. Hopefully...

Ask those other 3 SEC teams if they'd rather win the conference championship or a trip to Omaha and see what they say. Hell, ask OUR team which they'd rather have. I guarantee you they'd all choose Omaha.

Incorrect. The rest of the team got us there; Morris drove in the winning run after barely contributing for the remainder of the season. What a god-awful comparison.
Who said anything about MVPs? You are making up things that I said. You think the fact that LSU had one great hitter this year means that the rest of the team hit well, which is bullshit.
