well, our coach is like 1075–596–6 overall

he was like 533–213–3 at Notre Dame--9 NCAAT appearances in 12 years (knocked out by 3 SEC teams, Virginia, Cal State Fullerton, Arizona, Michigan and Florida International), one Sweet Sixteen (beat FSU at FSU), one CWS "Elite Eight" appearance where they beat #4 National Seed Rice

he is like 909–472–5 at LSU (4 NCAAT appearances in 5 years, 3 Sweet Sixteens in 5 years, 2 Elite Eights in 5 years, 1 National Championship)

plus, in five years at LSU, he has won 2 SEC Regular Season Championships and 3 SEC Tournament Championships

    looks pretty impressive, no?

Evidently some of the same people who could do better than Miles could also do better than Mainieri.

I did enjoy the above comment about how Mainieri did great at Air Force (he had a losing record there) but crappy at LSU (where he has been one of the all time greats over 5 years)

The consensus of the gang I watched the game with was that LSU needs a new batting coach. Stoney Brook was hitting with discipline, good technique, and a good eye for the ball. They never just "took" a strike when it was an 0-3 count. They had no fear of swinging at a good ball and they connected with it consistently. They hit foul ball after foul ball and wore our pitching down. Good things happen when you connect with the ball.

yeah, that basically sums up what every retard casual fan has been saying. it is a shame the LSU fan base has so many great coaches that never went into coaching

When a school nobody heard of two weeks ago is fielding more MLB talent than a team that won an NC 3 years ago, there are clearly some major issues that need addressing. Mainieri has acknowledged the recruiting problem, and with the overall talent level on the team they probably overachieved this year. It'll be interesting to see whether he continues to pull a Dinardo with Sanchez.

hell, we definitely over achieved big-time this year...beat down all of the other SEC teams that are in the Sweet Sixteen, giving me that delicious SEC Championship to taste on, when those other 3 Sweet Sixteen SEC teams will always remember they couldn't take down LSU. outstandingly great incredible season, beyond my dreams

but yeah Stony Brook has gotten some Top 5 talent on their team, and their cross town rival St John (also in the Sweet Sixteen) had some sick talent too, which is insane. we need to start recruiting up there big time

Why the wailing, knashing of teeth & rending of clothes???? Stony Brook was a superior team with better atheletes. The 3rd baseman and lead off hitter were scary good at the plate and BTW 8 of the 9 hitters are over .300BA. Give them credit for what they have done. You know in almost every sport a team rises up from the depths with a perfect storm type run. Think of Boise State in football, VCM & Richmond in BB. Not flukes but the combination of good luck, good coaching and atheletes maturing to be better than expected. Why were Stony Brook's player on Miami's team or some other traditional power? *hit happens.
It happens sometimes that a very good team like LSU was runs into a buzz saw. It was too bad that Rhymes, Nola and a couple of others hit a slump at the wrong time but that is baseball. We also had some bad luck yesterday with the rain when Gaussman was pitching. Even with all that we lead only 1 inning in 30. Stoney Brook was better this year and good for them but until they get multi national titles and appearances at the CWS don't compare the programs.
Manairi seems to be adjusting. Dunn improved the pitching significantly. Our hitting has been streaky yes but was better this year than last. Rhymes & Katz are coming back with Jones, and others. we have Nola & Eades and others on the mound. I have hope we will be hosting another super regional in 2013.
    GEAUX Tigers!!!

Look, this is an LSU forum and we talk about the Tigers here. Everyone is entitled to his opinion. If you are going to call everyone that disagrees with you a retard and try to stifle conversation, you are going to end up on a lot of ignore lists.
