Been preaching that for a while now. I know both teams use the same type of bats, but they were fine prior to 2009. No need for the sweet spot to go from 4" to 2" and basically take the HR out of the game; which now resembles women's softball.

That said, 3 hits in an elimination game and 6 hit in 2 games is pretty pathetic.

I will say that I think Stony Brook is for real and, while they won't win the national championship, they could do some real damage in Omaha.

you never know. for ex, LSU put up 15 runs on Florida over 3 games, while FSU was only able to score 6 in their 3 games vs Florida

Just got to tip your hat to SB. They were the better team and deserve to go.

Always thought this but until tonight never wanted to say it. I think he won his NC with some players that someone else recruited. Given the issue with the bats I think the entire philosophy with a hitting coach needs to be addressed to reflect what they are forced to use. Gorilla ball is gone, SB batters getting 15 pitches in multiple at-bats wears out pitchers pretty fast as they showed LSU. Hopefully PM sees the need for serious changes. LSU was lucky to win 1 game and when we had to go 12 innings to do it..............the end was in site.

I think most can accept SB is an excellent team, however the game tonight looked like total surrender on our part. PM should have told LSU fans he will not accept his June paycheck, he did not earn it.

Wasn't FLA missing some pitchers for the LSU series that played against FSU?

Might as well get used to it. This is what the NCAA has turned college baseball into.

Florida was missing even more for FSU. Neither LSU or FSU had to face Florida's #1 pitcher. FSU didn't have to face Florida's #2 pitcher, while LSU did, and LSU got 2 runs off him in 1 inning before they pulled him (to be fair, the guy had just com e back from a long lay off due to injury)

both LSU and FSU had to face Florida's #3, Johnson, who just got taken 1st Round (LSU hammered him, FSU got 2 runs off him in 3 innings)

LSU had to face Florida's #4, Crawford, while FSU didn't (and he shut-out LSU in game 2 and also threw a no-hitter against someone this season)

both LSU and FSU saw a lot of Florida's top two bull pen guys, Rodriguez and Maddox, who were both just taken 2nd and 3rd Round in the draft. they went 10 and 1/3 innings vs FSU and held FSU to no runs and just two hits. they shut down LSU in game 1 and 2 but LSU destroyed them in game 3

one thing a lot of people don't realize is that LSU is just as good at hitting as we are at pitching (both rank same nationally, in SEC, and in SEC-only stats). and our hitting was just as good last year. people just don't realize the new bats brought everybody's hitting down. our batting avg was much higher than the other SEC teams that made the Sweet Sixteen: Florida, South Carolina, and Arkansas. all three of them would love to have our hitting coach

but yeah, guys like Rhymes, Ross, Nola, Hanover etc didn't show up this weekend which is very uncharacteristic of them this season, and that is unfortunate

after watching LSU all year, I'm more worried about our pitching coach then our hitting coach. our hitters wildly exceeded expectations this year, while our highly-touted and talented pitchers didn't do quite as well as they were projected to

also, our recruiting needs a lot of work. we had several recruiting classes that weren't even top 25, and that is a crime
