Hard to see that winning the NC in '09, and SEC in '12 is slipping. Slumping at end of season happens to the best of them. Managing expectations as fans may be more the issue. Agree that even w/success, you can improve, but that should be left up to the HC to decide, not fair weather fans on a forum who think they know all the solutions.

I have a hard time jumping a coach who has won a national championship. But I will comment on the mistakes that were made. Just comparing this team to the 2009 club, you can see a few major differences. Speed, especially in the outfield, played a major part in 2009. There wern't as many holes in the line up. Pitching was similar on the two teams.

We don't have a right to be in Omaha every year; there's enough of that with Bama fans and football.

alright if you could just have ONE, what would you pick, 1, 2, 3, or 4...

1-National Title plus Championship game appearance plus CWS appearance (South Carolina led by Ray Tanner or Arizona led by the coach Florida fired even though he got them to the CWS and did the same for Cal-State Fullerton before that, like Mainieri led Notre Dame then LSU to the CWS)

    2-SEC Championship (LSU)

    3-CWS appearance (Florida, Arkansas)

    4-SEC Tourney Champs (Miss State)

of those, I would take 1 and if I can't have that, then 2

    as for Ray Tanner, wow.

now, South Carolina just built him a brand new stadium, but ours is bigger. USCe is just an hour drive from Augusta National Golf Course, LSU is an hour drive from New Orleans and Lafayette

would he come here? I don't know, unless he wins 2-3 national titles in 5 years here, we'll have fans calling for his head, while he's already a God at South Carolina

Ray Tanner is doing what Skip did at LSU. He's done a fantastic job and knows how to win in the post season. I never said, and I don't think anyone has suggested, satisfaction with LSU not making it to the CWS. I don't think CM is a great motivator like Skip and Tanner, so there's my criticism. If USC wins, they will have accomplished a tremendous feat (something LSU should have done in1998, as well), but they still have 3 more to go. The draft has taken its toll on LSU recruits, there's no doubt about that, either. Everything good or bad ultimately is the coach's responsibility, but to suggest CM is no longer effective or irrelevant is ridiculous. They went from missing the post season last year (which everyone has acknowledged was a travesty) to winning the SEC. That's marked improvement, that's coaching. If the had missed the post season again this year, you may have a point. IMO, they will be better and hungrier next season. We fans have high expectations, and we should. It didn't work out this year, I got it. I believe CM recognizes that, the staff knows that, and so do the players. CM has forgotten more baseball than I will ever know, good thing he has you to remind him how much he still needs to learn to meet your expectations.

Please remember your thread next year and we will see who's right and who is wrong. Manieri won in 2009 with Laval's recruits not his own. CM has won nothing with his actual recruits and IMO this is unacceptable. Yes I have high expectations as LSU is a premier program at least it used to be. How come every other team can get high recruits to stay yet LSU cannot keep anyone to stay. Someething isn't flying with this program as CM has brought our team down . Just my opinion we can agree not to agree., If CM was a great coach how come he was Bertman's 4th or 5th choice to coach LSU. Maybe Maneiri shouldn't go but his unexperienced Godson Javi Sanchez definitely needs to go, whats he experienced at great Bar-b-que that doesn't cut it.
