so, the vaulted Stony Brook hitting coach so many here want so much just had his team go 7 of 32 vs Florida St (.219) today, including 6 for 23 (.261) vs Florida St #2 starting pitcher Mike Compton

compare how other NCAAT teams have done vs starter Mike Compton this season:

    Stanford: .500 (11 of 22)
    Clemson: .600 (6 of 10)
    Georgia Tech .583 (7 of 12)

yay Stony Brooks' hitting coach is the most awesomest!

LSU peaked around the Arkansas series and never really got its hitting mojo back, coupled with Eades going into a funk. People are going to ask coaching questions when guys like Jones struggle for much of the season, and your star hitter goes 0 for the series against a pitching staff that got brutalized in the CWS. Too many guys were hitting too many offensive slumps at the wrong time, and there still doesn't seem to be much of an offensive identity. LSU's conference hitting stats are schizophrenic. They were near the top of the league in HR's, but middle of the pack in RBIs, and near the bottom of the SEC in doubles and triples. Not enough power throughout the lineup to be a huge offensive threat, not enough speed and base-running ability to play small ball. Recruiting and development has got to pick up all the way around.

agree our recruiting has been terrible for the best-attended and greatest NCAA baseball team in recent memory. its outstanding our coaches and team did so great with the vast majority of our team not part of Top 25 recruiting classes. other than our pitching not living up to expectations this season, great job all around except for in recruiting, which is a crime. I will be starting up a new thread on how LSU is doing in recruiting (and so far, it is looking much better than the garbage overall job we've done recently)

It's obvious you are just a hater and have no clue how good our season really was. Baseball teams and players have slumps from time to time. It happens. Unfortunately for us, it happened at the worst possible time.

Tiger_fan, thanks for the quality posts showing the facts, not uniformed bias like some others complaining here. LSU had a great season. Sure we would all love to win it all, but it wasn't in the cards this year. For others to say our coaches suck is just juvenile and ignores facts.

Dude, if Kent State ends up beating UF, you're going to have to post the meltdowns again. That's some funny stuf! I'm out in field for gunnery, so my Internet is limited. Thanks in advance.

well, the self-hate has slowed down a bit since Florida is now only down by 1, and currently has 2 runners on with 2 outs in the top of the 8th, but here were some of the best comments of the game so far today:

Mixed feelings about today. We have the talent to beat anyone yet we can't make clutch plays when it matters. 2 and Q a very real possibility.

Clutch, to this team, is the house band at The Breakers on PC Beach.

It would be disastrous to not win a game and have to go home after all the hype and build-up of this team which many thought earlier in the year was a college baseball dynasty. In fact, a college coach said that Florida was the best college team he had ever seen.

Did I hear this right? Our first 6 batters were a combined 2-20 last game? I mean, come on!!!

our first 5 batters so far are hideous at the plate.

    worst...showing....ever?

    ALL on Sully. Huge disappointment.

What a joke this team is.

    ridiculous

Yes indeed, the #1 seeded mighty gators...

Warm up the bus and get the airplane ready..

    This is embarrasing.

This team can't hit it's way out of a wet paper bag

You gotta be kidding me. Put a fork in this team. They just aren't gamers. Unreal.

    This team is mentally weak.

this might be the biggest choke job in the history of college baseball

this is just totally embarrasing. The entire team should be embarrassed. This team has no fight, and if I were the pro teams that drafted these guys I'd want a do-over.

    Team is full of prima-donnas

Our OF play has been bad. That ball needs to be caught. I hope sully has learned a lesson. We need speed in the OF and have none.

Too many whining babies on the game thread as usual. Sucks the baseball regulars have to abandon the boards to you guys, but I'm outta here to cheer for the Gators while downing a few more beers in case it turns out poorly.

3 trips to omaha and 2 of them end in 0-2 for sully it looks like.

Can you guys just jump off the ledge already, and GTFO off this thread. There must be a lot more teen posters than I thought here

No SEC East championship, No SEC Championship, No SEC Tournament Championship, No NCAA Tournament Championship. This team has literally nothing to hang its hat on this year.

What's the record for pop outs in a game? We might get that record.

    WTH????? This team has imploded.

Everything has been bad so far.. Pitching, defense, hitting, base running, and coaching it's all been bad.

Complete choke job all around. Coaches and players.

Our approach at the plate is beyond bad

No doubt rival fans will have a good time reading this thread. Wouldnt surprise me if a few were even posting

They aren't learning anything they couldn't figure out themselves by watching the pathetic display of "baseball" we've produced in Omaha. Honestly, this team had enough talent to practically win on cruise control...[and what have we done?] absolutely nothing.

As far as college tournaments go, if a loss holds up, this has to be one of the worst performances that I can recall.

taking a team that was called one of the most talented ever and not being able to win a championship of any kind is failing as a coach. Building that team is a great job, but one the was 95% accomplished before this year. Sullivan has had a very bad year and needs to look within himself and through the program to figure out why that happened.

It's obviously Sully has a lot homework to do with this team after this game, win or lose. It's like we want to lose at times. It's confounding to say the least. this is frustrating to watch.

Sully may be baseball's version of Charlie Pell: great recruiter, average to good coach, choker in big games.

This team has no clue how to win when it counts, has many problems easy to see if one doesn't want to instead stick their head in the sand, and has for many, many weeks now.

This team is getting what it deserves a real butt kicking. Can't pitch, can't field, can't hit, and I'm not even sure about coaching. The 1-6 batters again are simply inept.

This is embarrassing. Any coach that brings a talented team like this to Omaha and puts forth this kind of an effort shouldn't be at Florida. ... I don't care how many regular season games, preseason awards, and all-americans we've produced. It's not the fact that we are about to go 0-2. This team had no life, no effort, and packed it in. Inexcusable.

You can just look at the way these guys are carrying themselves and tell this game is over. Kent State wants this game more than us, and that is embarrassing.

I can't watch this Shit anymore!

Bottom line is that this team accomplished nothing this year: no division title, no conference title, 0-2 in Omaha. If UAA brings them out to honor their Omaha appearance at a football game, I'm booing. This team can kiss my you-know-what.

    How many days to kickoff?

you're just setting us up for more disappointment....when's tipoff?

is that what they call the start of women's tennis season now? because that is our best shot to win anything. oh ya, and track is good.

this display against Kent State has been downright embarrassing

Not ready to play. Start the bus.

This guy has a 5.45 ERA; if we can't hit him, we can't hit.

Florida not exactly a team that can manufacture a run when they need to.

What is with us to keep hitting into double plays? That would have been their 4th of the day if he had not bobbled it. Frustrating!
