No offense intended, but the base at LSU has closed that door, soundly. I don't see SOS even thinking about leaving USC. Considering what the expectations are at USC, and weighing in the point he's moved his family to Cola...I just don't see it. You know, normally you have some extremely insightful posts, but this one isn't one of them. I don't disagree with the fact he doesn't like adversity, especially when it comes to the players...something he was dealing with at Miami. Now, the fact it was his wife that persuaded him to listen in the midst of the season is a fact that seemingly continues to be overlooked. Ignored may be a better way of putting it. You have Miami's owner saying, "Follow your heart." You have his wife talking about how he loved the teaching aspect of college football. Then, you have the angst felt by the LSU fan base about him coming back to the SECW. Put him at another school and posts like yours wouldn't exist.
I am not foolish enough to say money doesn't matter... but I am foolish enough to say once money gets to the level of looking like play money in Monopoly, it becomes much less the motivator. Saban, it's my opinion, found himself dealing with his own frailties and ego when it became decision time at both LSU and Miami. He probably loved the attention and the spotlight more than he would ever admit... certainly more than just the money involved. Respect, recognition, security, reward, and fear are the primary motivators in life... always have been. Deep Thoughts from Hawker Handey...
This has been a nice thread about Coach Les Miles. Thanks to all who have contributed. I see this as one of those special seasons which will not only define the LSU football program but will also define Coach Miles and his coaching staff. Each player has the opportunity to do something really special this year. What's fascinating is everything comes down to one player and one play. Each player has to go out and beat the guy he's competing against. If each LSU player wins his battle on every play then we know what the outcome will be. Coach Miles has assembled a great staff and players. We now get to enjoy watching the team compete in our much loved Tiger Stadium. And on the road in front of the best the SEC has to offer. :crystal::geauxtige
First, if Saban is so worried about what the fan base thinks, he better not lose any games to Auburn...and he better win the SEC next year. Second, in YOUR opinion, JL's comment wasn't a good post...but the funny thing is...you offer nothing to counter it, in fact...you AGREE with a lot of it. Third, you admit who wears the pants in the Saban house...and her name ain't Nick.:thumb:
Carr won't leave because he'll win the Big 10 and actually win the Rose Bowl because they won't be playing USC...unless they play Cal.
Michigan can fire Carr, but can they be sure they would get anyone better than Carr. - Other than Miles who else is a popular choice? I dont think Harbaugh will happen. I just don't see them getting a guaranteed better coach right now.
I hear Michigan folks mention Cal's Tedford a lot. His name comes up with most top program searches. He might be reachable since the Tree Hugger's are living in the trees outside Cal's stadium slowing the Athletic improvements that have been approved. I hear they are a year behind now. Up until now its always been a promote from within solution.
