Les wasn't coaching our stud QB's from 2008 to 2011.

Overall success this year will be determined by the success of the passing game. Those just out of reach passes last year that stalled drives will have to be on target. That will fix the 4 minute offense...and the rest of the minutes offense.

I miss the days when our average joe QB would find a wide open Early Doucet for a big gain on a key down.

Our biggest problem last year, outside of redzone production and offensive execution in the passing game, was allowing opponents to score on us at the end of games. This happened against most of our opponents, such as Texas A & M and SC (causing our wins to look less impressive), and it caused us to lose the Alabama and Clemson games.

Guys, that was a defensive breakdown. Sure, our offense needed to get first downs and keep the damn ball, but our defense let us down at the ends of games, too.

Our whole team was lacking the swagger we had in '11. Perhaps 1/9/12 knocked it out of us. Maybe losing Mathieu was too big of a hit. It could be any number of things, but our chemistry was seriously out of whack in '12.

I still think it's laughable that so many think Les needs to STFU on matters concerning the offense. Shit--it's HIS ass on the line when we lose, isn't it? Do any of us think we take it harder than he does when we lose (though it's rare as hell when we do under him)?

Yes, I take up for Miles. I think he's the best coach LSU has ever had. He isn't perfect, but neither is that Napoleonic munchkin in Tuscaloosa (who runs a very similar offense--though with better execution and a notable lack of offensive holding calls EVER.)

That average joe QB is the only former LSU QB to be starting for an NFL team, though. He probably wasn't all that average.

Because they were on the damn field for waaaaaayyyyy too long. We have to be the only team in the history of football that tries to run the clock out by throwing it. I guaran damn tee you we were in the top 5 of 3 and outs last year. That is the #1 contributor to our "defensive" breakdowns.

    What, lack of proven success?

Since Jimbo, we've had ONE professional coordinator on that side of the ball. Just one. And he sucked out loud, which is why he was fired. Kragthope would have done great, but didn't shake out due to reasons out of anybody's control. Stud was an emergency promotion, and in his first year we scored more points than I've ever seen LSU score...with one glaring exception. It didn't surprise me when he got another year, based on his body of work the year before. It didn't work out, so Les got somebody the players and fans can have immediate confidence in...somebody with a proven track record of offensive success at all levels. I don't know how this is so hard to understand?

Anybody with a brain could tell the difference between Crowton's offense and Stud's. Were they BOTH supposed to secretly be Miles, calling the plays from the behind the curtain? He just happened to change his offensive style after Crowton left? There's too much evidence against this theory to give it any credence at all. I don't know how it ever got legs to begin with.

Does that explain us going to prevent defense on Bama's game-winning drive? What did Bama have? ONE first down in the second half til we went prevent?
