1. does anyone have the latest info? the texas dotd site (http://www.dot.state.tx.us/txdot.htm) says "TxDOT is converting all lanes on I-45 and I-10 in the coastal area to outbound traffic only..."

i'm trying to get home from austin to see the game

  2. If you are in Austin you might want to stay put. They are already in the process of turning Hwy 290 to all lanes out of the city.

  3. What they are trying to do is start a counterflow system on the fly. Texas does not have one in place and the roads are logistical nightmares right now. So they have been working since last night to get a plan in motion to start turning roads out in all directions.

Now as far as 10 Ebound being closed I can on imagine that it means one of two things or both.

This storm may take more of a jog to the north than expected and with no hotel rooms open right now they dont want Texas people having to ride this storm out in their cars.
  4. I was thinking the same thing. I don't think they want people evacuating to the east because the track keeps shifting ever-so-slightly in the same direction. People evacuating should go north or west.... I hear Wyoming is nice this time of year...
  5. Ok NLMD using my exceptional military skills of direction and map reading and due to the traffic on the interstates and the possible closuers I got a backways route for you.

Once you get to winnie get off of I10 and get on Hwy 73 which will take you through Port Authur, and you can then take 73 to Orange and back to I10. Or In Port Authur you get on Hwy 82 and Hwy 82 will take you into La and will turn into Hwy 27 which will take you back to I10 in Lake charles.

  6. Cantoire was saying this morning to go south to Corpus or San Antonio
  7. Ok from Austin you are going to take Hwy 79 in Round Rock all the way to Hearne. In Hearne you are gonna get on Hwy 6 going towards Bryan-College Station. In Bryan you are gonna take Hwy 30 to Hunstville and in Huntsville jump on Hwy 190 and I would stay on 190 all the way to BR.
  8. thanks crip that looks like a great route

i really hope i can get home, been trying since unt & ariz. st.

but then again, it's only football, right? it's only the home opener against a top 10 team where the entire stadium decked out in gold gets their first live look at a new coach who some people say could possibly take the team to the rose bowl...

  9. I would hate for you to drive all that way just to have the game pp.

With the storm moving to the east of Galveston now it is looking better for me up here in Killeen, so hopefully I wont lose power and will be able to watch it.
  10. Drove I-10 last night and wasn't that terrible. Leaving Houston was bad though but nowhere near as bad as it is now.....

I caught the curfew law in Jefferson Parish though and got pulled over. Cop was a nice guy though
