Hillary will not be Obama's VP. You'll hear talk about it and how it will bring unity during the mourning period for Hillary fanatics to help them heal, but once the mourning perid is over, having an Obama-Clinton ticket would be incredibly divisive for the Dems. Clinton got pretty humiliated by Obama, she was a heavy favorite in this race for the Dem nomination. That would be a double insult to her and her inner core of devotees if the powers-that-be forced her to become Obama's VP. I also read plenty of stuff about Hillary being banished from the party for all the damage she caused Obama, and I don't think that is going to happen either. Obama's going to do his own thing and Hillary is going to do her own thing, and they will stay allies, stay true to their party, and hopefully both always fight to make the US and the world a better place.
Humiliated is definitely the wrong word. For her to receive 17.5 million votes, thats not being humiliated, granted she was the favor to win. However, she ran a strong campaign, even though I dont like all the things she did and said, but thats politics. You take the other person to the mat without damaging the party.
Hillary had more of the popular vote but Obama had more delagates, therefore he won according to the rules. Some in the party suggested Hillary should should step aside because the rules are the rules and popular vote isn't used as the determining factor. It's a little ironic that some of the same people who essentially told Hillary to step aside are the same ones who bitterly argued that Al Gore should be President because he had more of the popular vote. This isn't meant as a slam on Democrats (although I'm sure the wrath will follow :hihi but it just demonstrates how to spell politician...H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E Yes, we've gotten to the point where we so vehemently attack the opposition that we allow our "chosen" candidates to skate on many issues. Isn't amazing how quickly both sides can agree when it comes to increasing their salary or benefits? Maybe that's why Red's an Independent.
The chances of her getting the VP spot are quickly dwindling largely due to her own actions - or more appropriately, inactions. She has not conceded and congratulated Obama on his victory. She has not ended her campaign; only suspended it. Apparently she wants to use her clout to force Obama's hand and pressure him into picking her as his #2. This he cannot allow her to do because it will make him look weak. Clinton has seriously overplayed her hand.
I am inclined to agree with you, she has overplayed her hand as some kind of barganing chip. She should have just been gracious and endorsed. Then she could have talk to him privately about the VP spot and made her case.
No, it's much simpler than that. She's suspending her campaign instead of ending it for two important reasons: 1. She keeps control of her delegates in order to influence the party platform at the convention. 2. She can keep on fund-raising to pay off her campaign debts.
She owns half the votes, that a long way from a humiliation. In fact it makes her a major democratic power broker. Where do you read this? You're dreaming, chief. Hillary has a ton of muscle in the party, which Obama is very aware of, and she isn't going anywhere. In fact, Obama is going to be puckering up for her endorsement.
