"The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't..Data shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate." you will never make a headline or pay a salary with that quote.
That quote, along with trying to remove the 40's Blip are examples of these guys trying to dismiss actual measured values because they did not match their theory. They were trying to make data match their pre-determined theory, not shaping their theory to match known data. Shameful. As a modeler... measured data *should* be your best friend. Not something to be impeached.
cbs actually had a really good report on it. Granted it was just an online, written , story but it's something.
cough*cough not the same scientists that emailed, and setup statistical analysis programs to "hide the decline" but another man-made global warm...err climate change "scientist" who is caught faking data to show a warming trend that really isn't there.
We are in an interglacial period of a glacial epoch which began approx. 1 million years BP. Paleo temperatures deduced from ice cores in Greenland and Antarctica show rapid temperature swings of up to a degree of magnitude greater than current predictions (as much as 30 deg. F) during the current epoch. These variations could have been due to changes in solar output, orbital inconsistences, volcanism, etc. but they definitely weren't caused by human activity. Bottom line is that the models used are too crude to predict something as complex as Earth's climate. Any objective scientist without an agenda will tell you that. There is a political aspect to all of this. Never forget that those making the most noise over climate change are the same ones who despise corporations, industry, and capitalism in general. Most would be perfectly happy living on a commune in Oregon eating sprouts. Then there are the others like Al Gore who is making millions off your fears.
