if clayton goes he is stupid. his family is not poor so he doesn't need the money right this sec. if he goes now he will be the 4th or 5th wr taken. islstl and i have been saying this for weeks now. if he goes its a mistake. as far as mauck goes one of his good friends whom i work with says he is gone, but i'm not totally convinced on that yet.
Agreed tiger777, next year Clayton would be the 2nd WR taken behind Mike Williams and would be taken top 10 overall, could even be top 5. If he came out this year, he could fall to the end of the first.
I am so GLAD somebody here besides me CAN see Mauck EXACTLY the way he is. A great leader period. Folks he will always hold a special place in my heart as the NC QB, but he ain't all that. I saw Brett Farve play in high school and college where I went to USM , and HE IS all that. That's what a dynomite QB does. I am no expert but Mauck should go to dental school and be remembered with very fond memories. I am sooo grateful to him for what he has done, but realistically, he was our weakest link. On his good days he was special, on his off days he nearly cost us wins. Only our Defense pulled us through. flame me if you want but its the truth and 65 Grad is RIGHT on the MONEY.
I disagree, Clayton wouldn't be stupid if he went pro. You can say all you want about where he would or wouldn't go in the draft but we're never guaranteed anything in life. He could get in a car accident or get hurt playing a pickup game of basketball,(like Robert Edwards did) or get hurt playing for us next year. Remember Garrison Hurst also, these 2 former NFL rb's were lucky to have a 2nd chance to play football on any level. I think it would be the smart thing for him to go pro. He WILL GET THE MONEY, All he could ask for in 3 years when he would become a free agent or sign a new contract. At least if he goes now he will get some money to help himself financially until he can get a bigger contract. Look at the draft overall, how many 1st and 2nd rounders don't make it in the NFL, and some of the later rounders that are set in the NFL and make money. Terrell Davis, Olandis Gary, Quentin Griffin, Double D. I have most Broncos listed because I live in Denver and I know about them the most since I Keep up with them. I'm sure theres about that many more on every team
He is not in my opinion a star QB but he just led us to a national championship thats as far as any QB can lead you star or not.
Mauck is a fierce competitor that will battle you tooth and nail for 60 minutes (or longer). He's a leader who inspires those around him to great accomplishments. Having said that, it's obvious he isn't blessed with the physical tools of a Favre or Elway. Sometimes I question his judgement when he forces the ball into coverage. But guess what. Favre & Elway did the same things. One thing that's indisputeable. The guys a winner.
Matt Mauck just lead lSU to it's first national championship in how many years? and we can't wait to see a freshman play because he is a stud athlete!! we have the best quarterback we have had in years with a year of eligibility left and we are pushing him off to dental school! let's enjoy his leadership and guts for another year, sems he will get us to the mountain top allot quicker than a untested freshman athlete.: :geaux: :lsug:
Mauck's intangibles cannot be measured. I give him that. At this point with no real experience at wideout (Green is a slot receiver), I now believe we need Mauck to come back and lead this team once again. How many freshman QBs come out and light it up right away. It's too much to ask. No experience at QB + No experience at Wideout = recipe for disaster in road games at Georgia, Aubun and Florida (back to back to back) This ultimately hurts our running game as well.
Robert Edwards got injured playing in a beach sand flag football game after his rookie year in New England...it wasn't a car accident... Don't think that the NFL didn't give him a NICE little nest egg for sacrificing his NFL future in return for some off-season Sunday afternoon filler programming...
