Either way, you guys...I think a lot of people are underestimating and/or overlooking the talent we've got returning... In the event that Clayton leaves: Skyler Green is your most experienced returner. Dwayne Bowe is a guy that will be counted on to step up, but has shown he can make the grab in the clutch (The 1st down conversion against UGA #1 late in the game). Buster Davis finally made it onto the field, and any true freshmen who break into this all-star corp of wideouts is unreal-from a talent standpoint. The X factor next year is a guy that's never taken the field for LSU...A uber-talented cat by the name of Amp Hill... According to one of my crystal ball seers that contributes to this site, this guy was the third wideout, and was pushing Devery for the 2nd spot on the WR depth chart before injuring his MCL... Anyone who saw the Moss-esque catches he was making at Fan Day just to get the fans into it knows what this fella's capable of. I for one am psyched up at the WR corp no matter what happens. Oh...I almost forgot...You've got the three signess from this past year (Dwayne, Buster Davis and Amp Thrill Hill), plus Early Doucet and Xavier Carter (who I think will end up a Tiger)... That means we've got at least 6 guys who can see the field as game-breakers next year, with backs in the backfield that will rip each other to shreds to get the starting job in the spring... The competition at all skill positions on offense outside of Tight End is going to be GREAT (if Mauck comes back, it will be nice to see the fight for the backup spot...and if he doesn't...WHOA!)...
HOW RIGHT YOU ARE I sat next to Trev's family at the Miss St game 2 years ago and they told me he was gettin payed this year. I would say his mind was made up
Clayton will stay for his own good so that he does solidify his spot in the draft in 2005. He knows that he will not be drafted high if he comes out this year (in fact I would not be surprised if he is a early to mid 2nd round pick). And yes receiver will be the deepest position for LSU should we pull in Doucet and Carter. 7 QUALITY receivers deep (which includes Clayton), simply incredible. Would like to see a lot of 4 wideout formations next year. Those delayed handoffs and misdirection plays would be even more effective.
Larry Fitzgerald Roshaun Woods Lee Evans Mark Clayton Mike Williams (if he and Fitzgerald challenge and win) Roy Williams All are higher picks than Clayton. The smart $ says he comes back.
Well Williams and Fitzgerald will not win that battle....they are gonna be forced to stay in college another year. I didn't realize that they were challenging the rule. But your are correct, all of those receivers go ahead of Micheal Clayton easily. I can't see 5 WRs taken in the first round. You know Clayton does not want to go in the 2nd round. You talking too much money lost on that risky move. I think Clayton could have an outstanding SR year after Amp Hill, Early Doucet, Dwayne Bowe, Skyler Green, and Craig Davis provide ample protection for him as 2nd, 3rd and 4th wideouts (yes there will be plenty of 4 WR formations next year). Notice I did not include Xavier Carter. I just don't see him committing to LSU if Early Doucet does commit. It makes no sense, too much competition. BTW, I looked at the film clips on Early on rivals.com. The kid is sick with talent. And he's got a good arm. We could easily add a new play to our arsental where the QB throws a backward lateral to Early and Early throws it down field to another receiver.
Check the rules fellas, i heard Fitzgerald has a loop hole in the system that could get him in the draft this year. Something about leaving his highschool three years ago, even though he only has two years in college. Not sure, I heard something about it on ESPN.
tigerbnd your right him and clarett bothm have that option. the wording of the rule is 3 nfl seasons must have pasted before you can enter and this is the case for both of them.clayton will come back and be drafted behind mike williams. and other guys that would go ahead of him are reggie williams(wash.), bj johnson texas, maybe sloan thomas-texas and maybe darling from wash st.
hi If Larry Fitz and Mike Williams win Clayton needs to stay, this year at best he is the number 5 or 6th pick without Fitz and Williams, with them he is down to 7 or 8th. If Clayton stays next year he is a lock for 1st round and maybe a top 10 pick. This year is a bad year for wrs to come out early.
