he will be missed he made many plays on both sides of the ball. Kickoff coverage etc. I hope he stays..still a rumor
Good luck in the NFL Michael!!! You're a great Tiger and you helped make this years team one of the best ever!!!!
I tend to agree that from a talent standpoint, we can replace Michael Clayton. It's his LEADERSHIP that will be hard to replace. When was the last time you saw your star offensive player being your best special teams hitter? The guy led by example and NO FRESHMAN can step into those shoes. GOOD LUCK, M.C. Like the Pats (Rohan, Faulk, Green), Bills (Josh Reed) and, yes, even the Cowboys (Brady), whatever team M.C.lands on will become a team I pull for and follow. JUST, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't sign with the Falcons - DEMAND A TRADE IF YOU MUST!!
Good Luck & Thanks Michael! however it turns out. Whether you stay or go we appreciate all of the effort and good times you have given us.
Well, as disappointed as I am to hear that he's leaving, I wish him the best of luck in the future and thank him greatly for all that he has done for the program! Thanks, MC--You're a class act!!! :geaux:
I agree with you...but right now Im trying to make the best of it. I hope this is just a silly rumor....but I think its true.
Great point. It should have an impact as we will probably not redshirt either player (Doucet or Carter) now that Clayton is gone. I also think this means Mauck may be gone. Clayton was his favorite target obviously.
Clayton will be a star in the NFL, no doubt about it. But I think he's looking at a late first round pick after three other receivers have gone. He will be missing an opportunity to be a consensus All American, a Biletnikoff trophy candidate, and an early draft pick next year. Like Nick said, late 1st-rounders average a $3 million signing bonus, while early first rounders average a $14 million signing bonus. He's possibly giving up a lot of money. Of course, he has to consider injuries and just being an instant millionaire does have its appeal. Clayton is a smart guy and it's his career. He'll do what's best for him. But, . . . he would have been Everybody's All American next year.
