Yes, that is true. Not a very smart move by Wroten. I don't disagree he broke the law. I just disagree with the reason we have that law in the first place.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? Are you saying it is okay to violate the law so long as it does not happen during football season. I think we need to prioritize our values, buddy. Sports have to be put in its proper context. Wrong is wrong, not matter when it happens. Dandy Don said he hopes it does not affect him too much in the draft. I responded to Don, telling him I hope it DOES hurt him badly in the draft. The jerk deserves it. Remember, this is not a misdemeanor offense, it is a felony offense (although I fully expect it to be dropped to the misdemeanor offense of Simple Possession of Marijuana). If stupidity was a crime, Wroten would get life.

That would be guilt by association. I would not mandate a drug screen for everyone just because one person screwed up.

It is both sad and stupid.

So? As a retired Probation and Parole agent, I know how prevelent marijuana use is. That only serves to aggravate the situation - not excuse it. Where did we get the idea that if 50% + 1 of the people do it, that makes it okay, or at least not as serious. And besides, he was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE. He was trying to make money by selling it to others. That is a felony offense.

It would not be "guilt by association" it would be "testing by association".

I specifically said, I AM NOT TRYING TO DEFEND WHAT HE DID. I was simply pointing out something that obviously some people didn't realize. I don't know where you, Salty, or anyone else got this notion that I was justifying things by saying "everyone does it".

I assume you know this, but being charged with intent to distribute has nothing to do with his intentions - only how much marijuana he had on him.

The sad truth is, the risks aren't as big as they seem to us. Often times, a cop would probably let them go. Even after getting caught, the charges will likely be reduced & he'll send a letter to the NFL apologizing where he will then be forgiven & drafted at the same spot he would have gone anyways.
