The fact remains that American, British and Russian intelligence were all saying Iraq had WMD. In addition, virtually every Democrat who is now yelling from their pedestals that Bush misled the nation, believed at the time of the invasion that Iraq had WMDs and approved of the invasion. It is entirely possible that Bush overlooked some intelligence or saw what he wanted to see. I won't argue that. But if he was guilty of that, so was 98% of Congress and the nation.
Even if they did have WMDs, that's not where the immediate focus should've been. N. Korea has and proliferated nuclear technology. Pakistan is a coup away from having nukes in the hands of radical Islamists. Should we invade them too?
It was 77% of Congress and less that publicly. Sorry, but you can't absolve Bush by blaming literally everybody else. The obvious and overwhelming fact remains . . . it was his decision and his responsibility as President, nobody elses. Congress did not declare war on Iraq, they gave The President the authority to make war. Congress and the nation went along with their leader with misperceptions based on administration statements concerning 9/11 involvement, WMD's existing, and AL Qaida connections that have proven to be bogus.
