Weak. 1st - I partially agree. 2nd - You need to check your facts. Before I ever make posts like this I verify that the information I post is true. Apparently you are basing this on your memory of the game, which is quite clearly wrong. I was at that game too, and its funny that I remember it just as the play-by-play indicates. Let me break it down for you: 15:00- Start of first quarter. LSU at 15:00- Kickoff returned by Dominick Davis (LSU) for 31 yards. 1st and 10 at LSU 31- Tigers fumble by Dominick Davis (LSU), recovered by Dontarrious Thomas (AUB), returned for no gain. Auburn at 14:46 1st and 10 at LSU 32 We stopped you, and Yost missed his FG attempt. Marcus Randall threw his first interception on our 2nd possesion to Travaris Robinson. He returned it 63 yards, to set up Auburn at the LSU 27. The first snap of the game was in fact a fumble, and our first 2 possesions ended with turnovers that gave Auburn field position in our territory. 3rd - Not even the same thing. First of all, we also lost our starting RB, SS, and a DE. So it wasnt just our backup QB you beat. Secondly, even with those three out, I am very confident we would have won that game with Mauck. The talent dropoff between our first and second QBs was gargantuan when compared to the positions UGA was without. Mauck makes this a winning team- not Clayton, Addai, or Edwards. They just add to it. We could have been without those three last saturday, and the results would have been largely the same. 4th - This is especially weak, even from you. It was a stupid retort, and the only reason it left you smiling is because you got to re-live our demise. Oooh, you sure showed us! We thought we would win, and didnt. What exactly does that prove? Not a damn thing. Im with SabanFan on this.
It wasn't a stupid retort at all. It would have been one thing if you guys had just predominantly picked LSU to win. I think even in my prediction I said that on paper that LSU should win. But given the inexperience of Randall at QB and being on the road, I thought AU would pull it out 22-19. But you guys, even though you say there was a "gargantuan" dropoff from Mauck to Randall, picked LSU to win by almost 3 TDs. That's what the post was mainly about...the insane margin chosen, not the mere homerism.
Damn. I thought I was done with this. You completely disregard my point about "homer" fans picking through tinted glasses. Of course we pick large margins. It's the week before the game and we are "woofin'". All fans do it, even you. I just wish I could go back on WEN and see just how badly you were going to beat Ga. Tech. Are we going to have to pore over stats and consult the experts before posting a prediction from now on to avoid having you come back a year later and telling us how wrong we were? Get real man. Thanks for the assist Ryan.
No, I didn't disregard your point. Not completely I disagreed with part of it...the margin thing. That's it.
I was searching for a post I made about Lavalais last week. As I was going through the 63 post David Pollack thread, I noticed several posts by Georgia fans warning that Pollack couldn't be stopped, etc..I could easily go over to a Georgia Board and point out that they were wrong and we were right and wave it in their faces but that's not right. They were talking up their team the week before a big game and they were confident as hell. Nothing wrong with that. For you to cite that one thread in order to somehow compensate for your lack of a competitive football team is just wrong.
Well, if you were a regular poster on a Georgia board, and had participated in a thread like the one you described, then you'd be completely within your rights to rub it in. It's not like I just showed up to give you guys crap. I'm at least semi-regular around here (at least during football season). I show as registered on Oct 25, 2002...the day before last year's game. But it seems like you guys had some kind of change in board around here because I've been around longer than that even. The thing is there's "nothing wrong" with either things...talking up your team (even to irrational levels) or rubbing it in when you beat someone else's. That's college football. Damn, when did every one get so whiny? Did I miss the memo that said "thou shalt not give opposing fans a hard time when you beat them"?
It was that game and subsequent games that showed us what the dropoff really was. At that time, all we had to base our opinions of Randall was on the USC game. Rubbing it in is fine, but you seem to think you have proven something by showing us what we already knew- we predicted a large margined victory. I just dont understand what that proves, or even what you are trying to prove. This post has really degenerated and brought out the worst in some generally good posters. I cant even remember the original intention of the thread, nor do I care to look back to find out. Whatever, its football season, and we're passionate.
actually, I'm taking the last word . .but only to say Mobile Bengal is right, and I am wrong. I keep forgetting that our cable company screwed up last year, and we missed the beginning of the LSU vs. Auburn game . .
