You're right, he should come out saying we have no chance aginst these guys. Hell, the team shouldn't even make the trip. I mean the game is just a formality at this point right?
In his press conference last week, Bob Stoops went out of his way to talk about Chad Lavalais and definitely called him great. In fact, he was very expressive which is rarely the case for him when talking about the next opponent. Chuck Long is a very, very laid-back individual, probably the most laid-back of any member of our coaching staff. When he says a player is very good, he usually means that player is a force to be reckoned with. Considering his experience as a Heisman-runnerup quarterback at Iowa, his time in the NFL, and his last four years on the Oklahoma staff, I don't believe he would underestimate any opponent. Whether that translates into a victory for OU remains to be seen.
You can't put much stock into what any of these guys say to the public, they're just follwing their own personality usually and you know that they have a respect for the players on the other teams and they also know their weaknesses. God, if you would have listened to Bear Bryant or Holtz for that matter you would have thought their opponents were going to steamroll their teams even if they were playing the lighthouse of the blind. I can hear em now "that number 34 for the house team can't see at all but boy he's fast as lightning, I know we don't have a prayer of controlling him so our offense just has to play ball control and keep him off the field. And when their QB throws those darts down the middle their ends just seem to be able to hear the ball whzzing by and stick up a hand and catch it. We'll be lucky to stay on the field with em."
I just try to report what I hear and see going on up here in Okieville. That's what he said and like I said, read what you want into it. :geaux: :lsug: :helmet: :geaux: :lsug: :helmet:

I guess I just don't have an inferiority complex. Does that make me cocky? But if calling people from Oklahoma 'Okies" hurts your feelings, I apologize. My wife don't seem to mind it. I guess she ain't got no inferiority complex neither. GEAUX TIGERS!!! LSU, 2003 TEAM OF DESTINY!!!! 2003 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP, GOT ONE?
