Yeah, but CM is a 5-Star! So, whatever! If he's not in this class, CLM is stupid! Can you feel the controversial controversy? :rolleye33:

Rivals has him listed as receiving an offer. I assume that is a committable offer.

Rivals says the same about Toben Opurum and Knile Davis. Are those committable offers?

I guess this will just be something fans here will argue about. One group sees 4 backs on our roster and two in our commitments as enough, and another group insists we take another running back because he has gotten high marks(not from our own coaches). We did need three rb's when Miles took Williams, Scott and Murphy because we were depleting the stable, but has anyone forgotten how much bitching has gone on because one back was featured or one was not? What will you guys say next year when we have Williams, Scott, Murphy, Ridley, Ford, and Pratt? Let me guess..

    Put in Michael!!

It's always the bigger better deal with fans for some reason. I do understand a desire to have a certain player in your class. I do not understand laying blame at our coaches feet because they appear to be fulfilling different needs on the team and don't share a fan's enthusiasm for a particular player.

Not really directed at you BB, I just happened to quote you about the committable offer. :thumb:

Good insigts, Dude. No offense taken. There is no question that Miles and probably every other coach in college football uses his own evaluation system - and think God they do. But I believe Miles would like to recruit three RBs this year.

    It is not currently committable.

Personally, I don't want a third RB in this class - regardless of their talent or star rating. I'm very happy with the two we've already got committed in addition to the guys we have on campus (Murphy is only a soph & Ridley is a RS fresh).

It would be nice to add another 5 star to the class, and it is tough to turn down that kind of talent, but we have much bigger needs elsewhere.

You really can't assume that it is committable my friend. I mentioned it once before on this forum, but I will share it again because of your question. A few years ago a little RB from Hahnville was listed on Scout as having an offer from LSU. I saw him playing on television the following year or two for West Virginia and doing quite well as a receiver in their offense. Later that year I was talking to a Hahnville football coach and asked why the RB didn't accept LSU's offer. I know the coach very well (he is an LSU fan) and he said the kid never had an offer from LSU. He said the boy wanted to be a Tiger, but didn't pass the "eyeball test" (meaning he was too small). I know it was Scout, and not Rivals, but I think the same caution should apply when assuming that a recruit has a committable offer.

Hopefully you are just speaking generically, but just to be clear, no one on this forum that I know of is blaming the coaches or saying that they know better than the coaches even though certain people (not you) continue to spin it that way. :thumb:

Yes, I brought up the fact that Murphy was just a Soph in the DEN yesterday and he could very well be our featured back for 3 more years. A few questions for you and others. Have we ever turned down a 5 star recruit before? Especially one without issues, grades, behavior, etc.. How sweet it is to be in this position and have this type of talent knocking on your door!

I agree that we probably have bigger needs elsewhere.

I certainly can't recall ever turning down such a talent.

However, as far as the record books are concerned, it will appear that Michael will just chose A&M over us - instead of us turning him down.

I doubt he tries to actually commit to us this summer. Instead, I foresee him taking the hint that we aren't pushing hard for him, and he commits to A&M.
