rex, you say that as if there are non religious people available to lead us. there are not. whatever your favorite democrats are, they are religious too. i have never even heard of a national politician who wasnt religious. i am aware that religion=crazy, but we cannot really point the finger at specific people, because every leader is crazy (or pretends to be).
My point was against fundamentalists, only. I would never disqualify most Christians. While I don't believe the Bible to be the word of God, they at least see the book as representative and conceptual rather than literal. The inerrantist has to pervert the nature of evidence and the applicability of logic, themselves, in order to maintain that two contradictory accounts of the same event can both be true. The regular Christian, on the other hand, at least recognizes that evidence should make sense and adjusts his evaluations of those evidences accordingly, whether or not his ultimate conclusion is wrong.
How about atheists? They have less morals than people of religion, maybe they should be disqualified because they won't feel guilty if they steal, cheat or lie a little bit?
We can agree to disagree then. Abortion for example, do third trimester abortions happen in this country? When does life begin? Its funny i have 2 sonograms of my children at 6 months old and they look like children not a slimy material. Do you believe in though shall not kill whether its the bible or mans law?
there is no difference. both are drawing conclusions based on magic and nonsense. the regular christian is just as crazy. they are also believing what is logically impossble. if a democrat was nominating justices, they too would be christians, and therefore irrational by nature. i think you could azrgue that the regular christian is worse because they just believe whatever is convenient to them, not subjecting themselves to the unfortunate parts of the bible. they just make up reality to please them.
Yes. What about it? A sperm and an egg are each "life" so I see no value in your question. They look like fetuses and they weren't persons. I believe that social proscriptions against unwarranted killing preceded the Bible. It's man's law, just as the Bible is man's book within which that man's law is repeated but ascribed to some higher power.
If you want to talk about abortion, how about the hypocracy of the double homicide laws.. kill a pregnant woman, its two murder counts.. have an abortion, its the woman's body.. As far as Rex goes... Yes!.. lets not allow anyone with a religious affiliation to have any say in the government!.. we should be ruled by an athiest oligarchy that rains down judgement upon all who question their scientific view of the universe! Anyone with the lack of intellect to move beyond the spiritual into the logical shall be raised upon the crosses that they so revere!..
Don't blame the pro-choice people for that. It should be murder plus some other crime with a different name (feticide). Now you're talking!
