A relative of mine has taken said peppers off of my hands, the mix is currently "curing" and will be ready to eat by Thanksgiving. The peppers were going to go bad before I could find the time to make my own. Decided I'll plant some peppers this spring, I really want to make my own. I like to mix it in with rice and gravy and also stuff a pork roast. Yummy !!!!!!

Anyone know if Zatarain's has stopped making their chow-chow? I can't seem to find it anywhere and it isn't listed on their webpage. I've been eating that stuff for 30 years, and I miss it.

Does Zatarain's or any other company make Chow Chow anymore? Do you know where I can buy it?
    A Chow Chow lover

    Dear Lover,
Rex Fine Foods makes a delicious chow chow, and you can find it in Rouse's grocery stores. Zatarain's used to make chow chow, too, but as of June 2006 the company discontinued the product.
Rex Fine Foods goes back to 1888. The company originally was called the New Orleans Import Company, and it imported spices. Somewhat later the company changed its name to Rex, and the King of Spices, Rex Fine Foods Inc., was born.
Recently, though, this longtime New Orleans company has been sold to a privately held Texas-based company, AFG Unlimited
