Anyone ever think that maybe the "gameplan" never called for the dline to get to the qb? How mobile is he? He had all day to throw, but they couldn't run on us, hence 70 rushing yards. I don't think we even touched the qb the whole game.
From what I understood, he is good at scrambling around in the pocket/backfield, but not really a downfield runner. At any rate, you may be right. Smith gets that ball out quickly. Maybe Chavis didn't want to chance losing the big play, which we really only gave up one due to a defensive breakdown.
That may be the only real difference in our defense and AL's - they have excellent LB's, especially Hightower and Upshaw - those guys are animals and set the tone for their defense. They looked very impressive against Arky. I saw Upshaw nail Wilson and then just pick him up off the ground. I like that attitude better than trash talking. It was classy. Hope our boys keep improving and let their play/actions speak for them, not their mouths. :geaux:
Look guys the defense cant when them all. It is pleasing to see we opened up the offense and let them win one. Each week we may have to rely on other aspects of the team to put us in position to win. Just glad each one has been able to answer the call. Offense and special teams won this one.
