the same more or less. although i will have no problem with my kids arguing with adults in and of itself. depends on context. and there is a fine line between teaching respect and fostering blind deferrence. i would prefer to err towards the former. and i dont think GOD is GOD. i wouldnt like my kids singing this song btw.
i had to say the pledge of allegiance, which i think was a bad idea. one nation under god? please. telling kids to say that is criminal.
Are you comparing Obama to God? Obama is the President of our country, so discussing him is at least a topic relevant for school. Religion, God, jesus, etc. is not. Singing his praises is just too much like 'Jesus Camp', for my tastes...

I wouldn't make too much of it. I was in the fourth grade when nearly-deified President Franklin D. Roosevelt died. The Zeitgeist in 1945 did nothing to stop me from realizing later as a young adult, that FDR was just another lying office holder. Many considered FDR to be an economic savior but the negative consequences of that salvation may very well be haunting Americans today. The ugly jug-eared Black American President will quietly (George who? Osama who?) fade into history, much like others before him. Elections alone will not fix America and Americans will continue to acquiesce in being ruled by the consequences of their own unpardonable.acquiescence.
